2023 Chevrolet Colorado Engine, Mileage, Top Speed, 0-60 Mph & Specs

Chevrolet Colorado Specifications & Features

Chevy’s mid-size pickup reaches the third iteration for 2023 with an entirely new model that has expanded in breadth, wheelbase, and maturity after seven years of the same old Colorado. The only source of propulsion for the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado is an eight-speed automated gearbox and 2.7-liter inline-four turbocharger. Depending on the trim level, horsepower and torque range from a base engine with 237 horsepower up to the high-output ZR2 version with 310 horsepower and a powerful 430 pound-feet of torque. An large 11.3-inch infotainment touchscreen is included as standard equipment and the interior has undergone significant upgrade. Regardless of the task, the Colorado currently outperforms rival ageing mid-size category elder statesmen like the Toyota Tacoma, Ford Ranger, and Honda Ridgeline in terms of power and technology.

What’s New?

With a completely new exterior, revised powertrain options, and a much enhanced interior, the Colorado is all new for 2023. The Colorado is offered as a crew cab with a 5-foot 2-inch length bed, and it may be had with either rear- or four-wheel drive. The V-6 and Duramax diesel engines that were available in the truck’s previous model will no longer be available. The interior design of the new Colorado is a huge improvement. Every Colorado is a crew cab with four doors. The centre console has changed, the shifter is now situated nearer to the passenger side of the cab, and the cupholders are now placed in front of the centre console rather than hidden behind the gear selector.

Chevrolet Colorado Engine, Power, Acceleration & Performance

Every 2023 Colorado is powered by a 2.7-liter inline-four turbocharged engine from Chevy, with different outputs depending on trim level. All Colorados have an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The WT and LT variants have 237 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque as standard. That is significantly greater than the four-cylinder, 159-hp Toyota Tacoma’s standard engine. The more powerful Z71 and Trail Boss models feature a 2.7-liter turbocharged engine with 310 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque, outperforming the V6 engines in the Jeep Gladiator, Ridgeline, and Tacoma in terms of power and performance. For the WT and LT trims, it is additionally offered as optional equipment. The ZR2’s crown jewel powerplant increases torque to 430 foot-pounds while producing 310 horsepower.

If those figures sound familiar, it’s because the full-size Chevy Silverado 1500 has the same engine. In the previous Colorado, there were two engine options: a V-6 and a Duramax Diesel. The independent front suspension and solid rear axle with leaf springs are both still features of the new Colorado. The rear DSSVs are now positioned to the outside of the frame on the ZR2, which instead puts large Mutlimatic DSSV dampers up front. Only the off-road ZR2 has power-locking front and rear diffs, while Trail Boss and Z71 pickups have limited-slip units. WT and LT trucks employ an open rear differential.

While the high-flying ZR2 trim with 33-inch tyres, 10.7 inches of ground clearance, and enough LED lighting to work the stage at a techno concert has our hearts, we believe the more affordable Trail Boss may provide just as much mud-flinging fun for less money. With its 32-inch all-terrain tyres and fender flares, the Trail Boss looks like a real badass. In fact, compared to the WT, LT, and Z71 grades, it even has an additional 1.5 inches of front suspension travel and an additional inch of rear suspension travel. Although it lacks the ZR2’s wonderful Multimatic spool valve dampers and locking front and rear differentials, it does share the Z71’s rear limited-slip differential and is significantly less expensive.

Conclusion

Off-road and on-road comfort, ample scoot from the standard powerplant, vastly upgraded. Headlight and door lock controls are digital, the standard engine is somewhat harsh, and there are no cab or bed options. Chevy reduced the number of options available for the mid-size Colorado, but the real changes have made it a far better alternative.
