Jaguar XF Specifications & Features

Being solitary by nature, Jaguar only offers one gasoline-powered sedan in the current lineup, despite the enormous popularity of SUVs and the impending move towards electrification. A redesign of the 2023 Jaguar XF is long overdue to help it compete against more modern sedans like the Mercedes-Benz E-class, Genesis G80, and Audi A7. Rear-wheel drive, an eight-speed automatic gearbox, and a 246-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine are standard on the XF P250. The P300 variant is solely an all-wheel-drive design and improves output to 296 horsepower. Although the size and power of the XF’s powertrain options are constrained, its pricing makes it the most accessible model in the mid-size luxury car class. The XF combines the plushness and ride of a large sedan with surefooted handling, and its inside is equipped with attractive materials and plenty of technology.

What’s New?

Jaguar makes adaptive cruise control a standard feature across all variants for the 2023 XF sedan, which is a little equipment change. The XF gets a minor interior upgrade. The dashboard’s outboard air vents that rotated open as well as the rotary shifter in the center console are no longer there. A drive-mode selector that lowers into the console when not in use now rests adjacent to the new shift handle. Jaguar also updated the climate controls, adding dials with independent temperature settings.

A 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine with two power levels powers the XF. Both the P250 and P300 versions produce 296 and 246 horsepower, respectively. Only the less potent of the two engines, which are mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox, offers rear- or all-wheel drive. Only the P300 is offered with all-wheel drive. Though slower than the now-defunct supercharged V6 variant, the powerful one reached 60 mph in 6.2 seconds, and the Jag’s exhaust still sounds great. We were impressed by the Jag’s supple suspension, which provided fluid handling and a superb ride. The steering of the XF was excellent at switching between low-speed lightness and high-speed heaviness. The gentle brake pedal also responded gradually.

Every Jaguar XF comes with the Pivi Pro infotainment system, which is controlled by a large 11.4-inch touchscreen with curved glass. We can’t yet say whether this new interface is more responsive and less buggy than the company’s previous systems because we haven’t used it, but we’ll keep you updated. The system supports over-the-air updates and has a 12-speaker Meridian radio as well as a standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connection.

We would choose the entry-level P250 S to maximize the sedan’s value proposition. There is no need to upgrade to the P300’s more potent engine or install all-wheel drive, in our opinion. A 360-degree video system, a 12-speaker Meridian stereo, passive hands-free entry, wireless charging, an 11.4-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto compatibility are just a few of the desirable amenities that come standard on our top pick.
