2023 Land Rover Defender 80 All Price, Top Speed, 0-60 mph & Specifications

2023 Land Rover Defender 80 will supplement the freshly-redesigned Defender mid-size SUV. The brand will be launching this junior Defender 80, as a smaller and more affordable entry point to its most adventurous SUV line. The 80 likely won’t ride on a shortened version of the larger Defender platform, however. Instead, it will probably share underpinnings with the Harrier, a smaller SUV sold by Jaguar-Land Rover’s parent company, Tata. Expect a starting price of around $30,000, which would make the base model go all-in and compete with the upcoming Ford Bronco and the Jeep Wrangler. High-end SE and HSE trims could duke it out with luxury subcompact SUVs such as the Audi Q3, BMW X1, and Volvo XC40.

What’s New?

The Defender 80 will be a new shirt from the British Marque, fighting in the compact SUV arena when it goes on sale in 2022 as a 2023 model. Details about the Defender 80 are still on the blurry side but expect it to be built in a four-door body style. With room for four adults plus adequate space for gear and luggage. On looking at the Defender 80’s target market, we could see at least one model with a carpetless interior. As that would make for easy cleanup after a day of hiking, and stain-resistant upholstery will provide for easy cleanup.

Engine, Performance, Drivetrain & Features

There is still no information regarding what engines will be found under the hood of the Defender 80. But it can be expected in Land Rover’s 246-hp turbocharge 2.0-liter Ingenium four-cylinder, that’s found in the Discovery Sport and the Range Rover Evoque. Also, a turbocharge three-pot engine is another possibility and, as the industry moves toward further electrification, a plug-in hybrid setup might also be offered. An all- or four-wheel drive system might be standard as well. Also, it is possible that a host of other off-road tech features could be cut, including an air suspension that adjusts ground clearance and a choice of off-road driving modes.

Fuel-Economy

2023 Land Rover Defender 80 is likely to give 21 MPG on highway and 18 MPG in city which is 20 MPG combine. This much mileage from a luxury off-roader is pretty good.
