Maserati MC20 Specifications & Features

The 2023 Maserati MC20 is an exotic street car that hits you in the face with a race-car driving experience thanks to its carbon-fiber chassis, ferocious 621-hp twin-turbo V6, and neck-wrenching cornering power. Similar to how people stare at Ferraris and Lamborghinis, it has a sleek, Italian-style supercar shape with butterfly-style doors. At the press of a button, the new Cielo spyder enables open-air cruising—and being seen. The MC20, however, has a unique set of problems of its own, just like many supercars. You’ll need an administrative assistant to accompany you with your bags because the car’s cargo space is so little, even though its suspension is accommodating enough for the occasional road trip. On the MC20, Maserati offers essentially no driver-assistance systems, such as adaptive cruise control or lane-keeping aid.

What’s New?

The Cielo spyder joins the range for the MC20’s second model year. It has a glass canopy that can be pulled back electrically in just 12 seconds. If the sun is shining a bit too brightly, the electrochromic glass panel of the top can be changed from clear to opaque once it is in place. Although Maserati claims that the Cielo has the same amount of passenger and cargo space as the Coupé variant, this really implies that the cargo space is equally meagre. Aquamarina, an optional and limited-edition paint colour that is only available on the Primaserie Launch Edition trim, of which only 60 will be produced, will be made available for the convertible variant.

Maserati MC20 Engine, Power, Performance & Acceleration

A twin-turbocharged V6 engine that produces 621 horsepower powers both the MC20 Coupé and Cielo. The Nettuno engine, which borrows its distinctive twin-combustion technology from Formula 1 race cars, is connected to an eight-speed automated gearbox. Its 207.6 horsepower per litre puts it ahead of engines from other premium supercar producers like Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren, or Porsche in terms of power density. During testing, the MC20 reached 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds and completed the quarter-mile in 11.0 seconds at 131 mph. The MC20 handles like a race car and accelerates with lightning speed. Despite the MC20’s extraordinary performance, its ride is relatively reasonable when the adaptive suspension is in its most cosy setting; it can be used for daily driving or long road trips.

MC20 Fuel-Economy

High-performance sports vehicles typically have poor fuel efficiency, and the MC20 is no exception. The MC20 has an estimated 15 city mpg and 25 highway mpg. That’s a touch better than, for example, the ratings of the now-discontinued Mercedes-AMG GT, which received a highway fuel-economy rating of 22 mpg in its most effective configuration.

The MC20 is the brand’s entry point for the next-generation infotainment system, which runs on Google’s Android Automotive operating system. Maserati’s current lineup employs a reskinned version of Fiat Chrysler’s Uconnect infotainment system. The new interface is displayed on a 10.3-inch touchscreen that is horizontally oriented and hidden beneath the dashboard’s air vents. A second 10.3-inch display acts as the gauge cluster.

MC20 Price

Maserati hasn’t yet announced prices for the Cielo spyder, but it will undoubtedly carry a significant premium above the coupe version. By the way, these are entry-level costs for exotic cars. However, we would choose the coupe instead of the convertible to avoid paying the premium Maserati would undoubtedly charge. The majority of the MC20’s most appealing features are standard, but to help that low nose clear any speed bumps, we’d advise investing in the optional front suspension raise mechanism.
