There aren’t many vehicles available today with MSRPs under $20,000, much less ones with a 10-year warranty. Fortunately, Mitsubishi offers the subcompact 2023 Mitsubishi Mirage, which has a starting price of under $18,000, for buyers looking for affordable transportation. Along with its price and extensive warranty coverage, the small Japanese hatchback also provides exceptional fuel efficiency and more cargo space than one might anticipate. Although the small three-cylinder engine’s fuel efficiency is excellent, we found it to be painfully poky, buzzing, and almost devoid of power. The Mirage’s other four benefits—price, warranty, fuel economy, and surprise cargo room—cannot satiate your higher-level desires for luxury or driving enjoyment. The removal of the five-speed manual gearbox is the most noteworthy modification to the Mirage for the 2023 model year. As a result of the change, every Mirage now comes standard with a continuously variable automatic gearbox (CVT). The inclusion of a black roof option, which is only offered on certain trim levels, is the only additional modification. The Mirage is not one of the few subcompacts that have decently luxurious cabins. The Mirage accelerates slowly when traveling on highways and metropolitan streets. When pushed, which is the majority of the time the car is running, the engine becomes loud, and heavy throttle inputs are needed just to keep up with traffic.
