Nissan Kicks Specifications & Features
A little SUV with an equally low price tag is the 2023 Nissan Kicks. There is no shame in that. Due to its straightforward underpinnings and lack of optional AWD, it is purely an on-road vehicle. With its rear seats folded down, the Kicks’ interior is at the very least functional and accommodating for cargo. The identical 122-hp four-cylinder, FWD, and CVT are standard across all variants. Even if acceleration is sluggish, it is less obvious when cruising around a city. Its fuel economy is at least as economical as an economy car. Vehicles like the Mazda CX-30 and the Volkswagen Taos cost more if you want greater power and refinement. Budget consumers, however, will find the Kicks appealing because of its low price, and they won’t have to make any sacrifices when it comes to infotainment and driver-assistance technology because Nissan includes many of these amenities as standard.
What’s New?
For the 2023 model year, Nissan hasn’t altered its smallest crossover in any way. The Kicks maintains its three trim levels and list of optional features from the previous model year. Although the Kicks’ interior styling is less fashionable than its outside design, it is well-built, has a mature appearance, and is user-friendly. It can transport passengers and stuff without feeling crowded, unlike rivals like the C-HR, thanks to an adult-sized back seat. The monotony of the interior’s all-black design is nicely broken up by colorful accents found throughout the cabin.
Nissan Kicks Engine, Power, Acceleration & Performance
A 122-hp four-cylinder engine that barely provides adequate acceleration powers every 2023 Kicks model. The front wheels are driven by a CVT, which also shifts gears; AWD is not available. The Kicks are slow, and the leisurely 9.7-second jog to 60 mph gives that impression. If you’re willing to press hard into the throttle and allow the engine to rev, it feels surprisingly lively when driving around town. The Kicks is more agile and entertaining to drive than some larger SUVs, but it isn’t a thrilling experience on a curve. Even in southeast Michigan’s potholed and crumbling roads, the suspension, which is set for comfort, gave a smooth ride. Although the steering is precise and direct, there is virtually little input. Although the steering is precise and straight, there isn’t much road feedback reaching the driver’s hands.

Despite not having one of the most attractive user interfaces on the market right now, Nissan’s infotainment system is simple to use and understand. The system is intuitive generally, but we do wish some of the on-screen symbols were larger and simpler to use while driving. While the entry-level Kicks S has a 7.0-inch touchscreen, a six-speaker music system, and Bluetooth connectivity, the mid-range SV and the top-spec SR have an 8.0-inch display, an additional USB-C connector, and access to Nissan’s NissanConnect telematics and concierge system. Customers who purchase the SR have the option of adding the Premium package, which includes a Wi-Fi hotspot and a Bose stereo system.

S | $21,775 |
SV | $23,635 |
SR | $24,335 |
Even the base S trim level, which comes with a plethora of standard driver-assistance systems, is well-equipped for the Kicks. To add desirable features like the new 8.0-inch infotainment display, adaptive cruise control, 17-inch wheels, and a center-console armrest, we’d opt for the mid-range SV.

Conclusion
Even though it is an entry-level vehicle, the cabin is quite inexpensive, and functional, and includes popular modern options. No all-wheel drive option, a loud engine, and slow forward motion. The Kicks’ small size and fuel-efficient powertrain will serve you well if you live in a city, but on the open road, it’s a less appealing option.
