The 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 and the full-throttle track-attack GT3 RS, to put it simply, are completely transcendent, combining everything we love about the standard 911 with otherworldly performance, undiluted driving experience, and hot-lap potential. On the GT3 and GT3 Touring, a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine cranks up to its redline at 9000 rpm while churning out 502 horsepower. With the new GT3 RS, the same engine is tuned to 518 horsepower, but the model’s insane race-car aerodynamic features—which were inspired by GT and Formula 1 race cars—are what constitute its key engineering breakthroughs. The GT3 models come with a six-speed manual transmission as standard, but we’ve demonstrated that the optional seven-speed PDK automatic is faster because it shifts more quickly than a human and appears to be connected to the driver’s cerebral cortex. Just the PDK gearbox is offered with the GT3 RS.
What’s New?
With a large back wing, a race-car aerodynamic package, and a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine with 518 horsepower, the top-dog GT3 RS variant joins the roster this year. We anticipate the GT3 RS to reach 60 mph in under 3.0 seconds and have an incredible appearance, like a race vehicle from a video game come to reality. The inside of the GT3 is quite similar to that of the rest of the 911 range, with a minimalistic style and straightforward layout that honors earlier incarnations of Porsche’s iconic sports car. There are a few distinctive features scattered about the cabin, though. The GT3’s gauge cluster still has a conspicuous analog tachometer in the center, flanked by digital displays, but it now has a special GT mode that places all significant information right there on the displays.
Engine & Performance
A 502-hp naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine is located in the 911 GT3’s rear. The engine is virtually the same as the one that propelled the previous 911 Speedster, which cranked to 9000 rpm and screamed menacingly. Both a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic (also known as PDK) and a six-speed manual are available for the GT3. The PDK-equipped version we drove demonstrated the automatic’s user-friendly behavior in addition to the engine’s spirited responses and seductive soundtrack. The six-speed manual test car clocked an impressive 3.3 seconds to 60 mph while the automatic achieved a time of 2.7 seconds during testing. This year’s addition to the lineup, the GT3 RS, gains 518 hp and is equipped with a variety of aerodynamic features, including an outrageous rear wing that features a drag-reduction system similar to that found on Formula 1 race vehicles.
The control-arm front suspension, which is a first for a production 911, is the most noteworthy performance improvement on this most recent generation of GT3 models. When coupled with the coupe’s chassis’ outstanding cornering grip and raw input, sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 or even stickier Cup R tires are a must-have. Although the GT3’s ride is undoubtedly firm, it is never harsh, and the electrically assisted steering is so heavenly intuitive that it deserves to be hailed as the best in the industry. We’ll see if the RS has been made so rigid for the racetrack that it becomes unpleasant on the road. Massive steel binders stop Porsches driven by purists; a carbon-ceramic option offers heroic stopping force, simple modulation, and fade resistance on the racetrack.

The 911 GT3 gets 15 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the interstate according to the EPA when it has an automatic transmission. When using a manual transmission, the city mileage decreases to 14 mpg.
Dimensions & Space
The GT3 variant of the 911 is equipped with the same infotainment system. This means that the centre of the dashboard is occupied by a 10.9-inch touchscreen, with some additional tactile controls located on the steering wheel and centre console. Wi-Fi hotspot functionality and wireless Apple CarPlay are included in the Porsche’s connectivity capabilities. A Bose stereo can also be added as an upgrade.

The basic winged variant and a Touring edition, which softens the racy appearance by doing away with the large rear wing, are Porsche’s two somewhat different versions of the “regular” GT3, just like with the previous generation. The RS is the GT3 with the most powerful engine out of all of them. It’s difficult to choose just one of the trio to suggest because they are all amazing vehicles, but the crazy GT3 RS is our favorite.
