Before Porsche released the 2023 Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo wagon model, the first generation Panamera sedan had been on the market for almost ten years. The five-door was initially only offered in a few trim levels. However, the carmaker let customers choose either body type in any flavor with the minor redesign in 2021. Customers will still be able to select between the 4, 4S, GTS, or Turbo S variants in 2023, except the GTS, which will not have a hybrid powertrain option. Once more, this astonished me, especially with how seamlessly hybrid technology was incorporated, including how effectively its regenerative braking system delivered electricity. Despite being a weaponized version of the Panamera sedan, the Sport Turismo lives up to the brand’s reputation.
What’s New?
For the 2023 model year, Porsche hasn’t introduced any major alterations to the Panamera Sport Turismo. The Panamera Sport Turismo’s interior exhibits all the characteristics of a vehicle costing six figures. Like any Porsche, the Sport Turismo has a lengthy, costly options list with anything from extravagant to ridiculous stuff. The Panamera Sport Turismo delivers ample back headroom for passengers big and little, even though taller riders may find the rear-seat legroom a little on the snug side.
Engine & Performance
Porsche offers a wide range of gas-only and plug-in hybrid engine options for the Panamera Sport Turismo. Regardless of the engine, all versions have an incredibly rapid eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Panamera 4 Sport Turismo’s base engine is a 325-hp twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6, but the 4S variant has a more potent variation that produces 443 horses. Porsche claims that it can reach a high speeds of 196 mph and 60 mph in about two seconds.

The base 4 variant of the Panamera Sport Turismo obtains fuel efficiency ratings of 18 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the motorway, making it the most economical non-hybrid vehicle. The GTS model, with ratings of 15 mpg city and 22 mpg highway, is the least effective. The most fuel-efficient E-Hybrid variant has a combined MPGe rating of 51.

While the 12.3-inch infotainment screen in the Panamera Sport Turismo appears nice, it conceals a confusing user interface with difficult ergonomics and limited functionality. In addition, its infotainment system contains common desirable features including Wi-Fi hotspot, built-in navigation, and Apple CarPlay compatibility. Interestingly, the entire lineup lacks wireless phone charging and Android Auto functionality. Significantly, audiophiles may get a 21-speaker Burmester sound system, but it costs roughly $6,000 more.

With its 443 horsepower twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 and standard AWD, we believe the Sport Turismo 4S offers the ideal combination between performance and affordability. Although there are countless possible combinations, we’d stick with straightforward choices. Blind-spot monitoring, a Bose audio system, passive entry, greater power adjustments for the front seats, and memory settings are all included in the Premium package. The Sport package features the Sport Chrono package in addition to rear-axle steering for improved mobility and a better-sounding exhaust system. The latter includes launch control, a Sport Plus setting, a drive-mode option on the steering wheel, a dash-mounted timer, and other performance-enhancing features.
