Overview
2023 Toyota GR Corolla has been turned along with its performance-vehicle division, Gazoo Racing. After all that good tuning and upgrades, the result is a GR Corolla. As Toyota has already unveiled the GR version of its Yaris in global markets, from which the GR Corolla derives its turbocharged engine. Toyota is working very hard in recent years to add spice to its lineup with sportier offerings.
What’s New?
The GR Corolla is a new addition to the Toyota lineup and will go up against rivals like Honda Civic Si, Hyundai Veloster N, the Volkswagen Golf GTI, and Jetta GLI. Actually, with its price and performance figures, the GR Corolla will likely challenge the topmost hot hatch i.e., the Volkswagen Golf R and the upcoming Honda Civic Type R. The GR shares most of its cabin with the standard Corolla, making good quality soft-touch materials, and plenty of features, but with racier trim and sport seats. As Standard ambient interior lighting, six-way adjustable driver’s seat, push-button start, and aluminum pedal covers are equipped.

Automatic climate control, heated seats, and heated steering wheel are all standard equipment on the Circuit Edition, which also sports a suede and faux-leather upholstery. The Morizo Edition offers even a higher level of spice but compromises practicality; which removes the rear seat, rear speakers, and even the rear window wiper to save as much weight as possible. The front seats get an exclusive red-and-black upholstery treatment and racy faux-suede on the shift knob, parking brake lever, and steering wheel rim.

For the display, an 8.0-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard, which also includes Amazon Alexa and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The Technology package models add an eight-speaker JBL stereo system, a wireless smartphone charger, and in-dash navigation.

Engine, Performance, Top-Speed & 0-60 Mph
Under the hood lies a turbocharged three-cylinder engine derived from the GR Yaris. Now, it is tuned to make 300 hp, an increase of 43 hp than the GR Yaris. Mated with a six-speed manual along with Toyota’s GR-Four AWD system. The Circuit Edition has front and rear limited-slip differentials as standard. The limited-edition Morizo is a track-focused model that sports lighter forged wheels, a retuned engine producing 400 Nm of torque, a unique calibrated suspension, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2rubber. The car has a top speed of 142 mph, and the 0-60 mph run time is less than 5.5 seconds.

Mileage
As the GR variant is aimed purely for maximum performance, its small 1.6L, three-cylinder engine, delivers 30 mpg (claimed).

Price
Toyota hasn’t released pricing for the GR Corolla yet, but the expected price for the base trim starts at $30,000 and the loaded Circuit Edition for just over $40,000.
