Acura Integra Type S Specifications & Features

For 2024, a new 320-hp Type S version will be added to the range. This will please those who thought the reborn 2024 Acura Integra Type S wasn’t sporty enough—that includes us. The Integra Type S bears similarities to the Civic Type R hot hatchback. Featuring the same turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, six-speed manual gearbox, and limited-slip differential that are shared by the normal Integra and the Honda Civic. Along with having a more aggressive appearance, it should be far more expensive than Integra’s base model. The $51,995 starting price, which is $7105 more than the 2023 Type R, is its biggest disadvantage. The number makes more sense when you consider that Acura considers the Audi S3, BMW M235i xDrive Gran Coupe, and Mercedes-AMG CLA35 to be its rivals. However, all of those vehicles are all-wheel drives, and critically, they do not offer a manual transmission option.

What’s New?

The 2023 summer sales season will see the introduction of the 320-hp Type S to the Acura lineup. The Type S joins other Acura performance variations in the TLX and MDX lines that also bear this badge. It is significantly more powerful, better to drive, and cooler-looking than the original vehicle. The Acura’s turbocharged 2.0-liter engine has been retuned to produce 320 horsepower and slightly greater middle torque when running at part-throttle. The Type R’s helical limited-slip front differential and smart dual-axis strut front suspension absolve the Type S powertrain of any of the typical high-horsepower front-wheel-drive sins. Yet the Integra nevertheless pulls mighty out of bends.

Acura Integra Type S Engine, Power, Performance & Acceleration

A 2.0-liter inline-four turbocharged with 320 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque powers the Type S. The Civic Type S has a six-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive, just like the Civic Type R. The 2.0-liter turbocharged engine was retuned by Acura to produce 320 horsepower and slightly more part-throttle middle torque. The Type S accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds and from 0 to 105 mph in 13.7 seconds when using 93 octane to reach its max horsepower. All Type S vehicles include three center-mounted exhaust pipes, 19-inch wheels with summer tires, bigger Brembo brakes, and a unique exhaust system.

In comparison to the Civic, Integra offers better floor and firewall insulation. Scales show a 29 pound weight difference between the two automobiles overall. But the weight difference is not just from insulation. The Integra body has higher strength and noise-attenuating qualities and is constructed from various stampings. A more flexible and composed daily driver is the result of everything taken together. Over the toughest patches of tarmac, the Type S feels much less constrained since the dampers can take a break and reset. And while wearing the same shoes, less tyre noise reaches your ears. On cracked pavement, Sport and Sport+ aren’t out of the question. But the Comfort damper level is still quite compelling—as long as you use the Individual mode to increase the steering effort.

All Integra models come equipped with a 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster that can be altered to show information for the driver in different ways. A larger 9.0-inch unit is an option in addition to Integra’s regular 7.0-inch infotainment display. Both do away with the annoying touchpad controller present in other Acura goods. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across all models, although wireless smartphone mirroring is only available in vehicles with the Technology package. The standard stereo has eight speakers, and a 16-speaker ELS Studio 3D premium stereo system is also offered.

If you can’t afford the Type S’s $51,995 beginning price, the A-Spec Technology trim is our other top choice. However, we believe the Type S best embodies Integra. We would like a six-speed manual gearbox, which is offered on both the Type S and the A-Spec trim levels.
