It seems like the good-old day of mind-boggling exhaust sounds and massive out-of-the-roof performing powerful engines are almost over. With the shift across all major brands going electric, almost every carmaker wants to electrify their entire lineup of cars. One such carmaker is Dodge, known for its incredible cars with beefed-up engines that carries the ability to tear drag strips at ease. Cars that are known for their iconic design and heritage of being one of the most popular American muscle cars ever made. Dodge known for making some of the most iconic and legendary cars is going electric. Starting with its first Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept that will mark its future to an all-electric era.
For some, it could be the death of an era and for some this car would be a step into a new electrified era. The Charger Daytona SRT looks like a Dodge, drives like it, and most certainly sounds like it too. But for the accounts that it does all that in a new all-electric form. The distinctive looks are to appeal to the traditional muscle car buyers and deliver them more performance in a zero-carbon emitting car. The Daytona is a throwback to the first 69′ Daytona Charger that achieved a top speed of 200 mph at NASCAR. The new Daytona Charger is however faster and quicker than the current-gen Charger SRT Redeye. The 2022 Chargers SRT Redeyefor starters, produce an insane 807 hp and can rocket from 0-60 mph in under 3.5 seconds.
The Daytona SRT Concept features an improved design that differentiates from the rest of the lineup of current Dodge cars. The two-door car features a front-wing design with improved aerodynamic properties that helps in the insane acceleration time. Dodge has fitted a nicer interior that looks modern and minimal while providing many features needed from a car. Dodge has not revealed any official specs of the car or anything related to the car’s performance rather than claims. The Daytona SRT Charger will offer crazy powerful specs with incredible performance. This car is also louder than any DOdge car with its artificial sound system that makes an incredible over 120 decibel sound. This Daytona concept will be an all-wheel drive car thanks to its electric powertrain. The car will provide more agile performance and confident cornering.
The new Daytona Concept will be based on an 800-volt architecture similar to the Porsche Taycan, Audi E-Tron GT, and the Kia EV6. It’s more advanced and double the voltage than the current EVs which are made on the 400-volt architecture. The production of the new Dodge Charger Daytona SRT could start later next year. And we could see Dodge’s first electric car hitting roads as early as 2024. Stay tuned for more details as the company reveals it.
