Lotus Emira Specifications & Features
The final internal combustion engine-powered vehicle from the storied British sports car manufacturer is the 2024 Lotus Emira. That’s accurate. The Evija hypercar is a sneak peek at how Lotus is getting ready for an all-electric future. But the corporation will give gas-burning purists one last model before saying goodbye to its traditions. The Emira is more useful, has a much nicer interior, and includes active safety systems for the first time as the replacement for the Evora GT, which is now the only Lotus marketed in the United States. The base Emira will have a basic turbo four with 360 horsepower, but Lotus also offers a supercharged V-6 with 400 horsepower and a manual gearbox as an option. Thus, the Emira is in direct competition with the Porsche 718 Cayman and a few 911 iterations.
What’s New?
The Emira will connect Lotus’s past with its present by utilizing a bonded-aluminum construction inherited from the Evora GT and an exotic look inspired by the carbon-fiber-heavy Evija. The Emira’s interior is straightforward with a two-seater design that is both intimate and basic. The driver is presented with a steering wheel that is squared off and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. We are pleased to see actual switchgear for the climate controls, as the material quality looks more upscale and is significantly better than in prior Lotus models.
Lotus Emira Engine, Power, Performance & Acceleration
One of two engines—a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder or a supercharged 3.5-liter V6—will be mounted in the center of the Emira. The 360-horsepower four-cylinder engine comes from Mercedes-AMG. The only available gearbox that feeds the rear wheels is a dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The V6 is a Toyota-sourced engine that was formerly used in the Evora GT. It can be paired with either an automatic torque converter or a manual gearbox. According to Lotus, the 3.5-liter engine generates 400 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque with the stick shift. The Emira will skip electric power steering in favor of a hydraulically assisted arrangement that offers unparalleled feel and feedback, unlike the majority of other contemporary sports cars.

The 10.2-inch touchscreen that will be situated in the center of the dashboard will control the infotainment system for the Emira. There are no physical controls to alter the volume or tuning of the stereo except for those on the steering wheel and maybe voice commands. The sports car will have standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone capabilities in addition to 12-volt and USB charging outlets.

The Emira will originally be offered for sale as a First Edition vehicle with all the bells and whistles and a supercharged V-6. A more affordable base model with a normal turbo four and add-on options will soon be added to the lineup, though. There may be more trim levels added to the model line in the future, but that has not yet been confirmed. We would, of course, choose the 6-speed manual over the automatic when configuring our own Emira First Edition, as well as the Sport chassis setting, stunning Dark Verdant green paint over black Alcantara, black wheels, and silver brake calipers. We might choose the $1400 black pack as well, but only if we could manage to maintain the green-painted roof as opposed to the gloss black roof treatment that is offered as part of the package.
