Mercedes-AMG GLS-Class Specifications & Features
The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLS-Class is a luxury SUV for the power-hungry, equipped with a 603-hp twin-turbo V8 engine and an AMG-massaged air suspension. With a capacity for up to seven passengers, it will do the school run almost as rapidly as its screaming powertrain on the test track, which carried it to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds. Though fine for the performance SUV class, the GLS63’s handling isn’t as athletic as the brand’s super sedans and sports cars, so straight-line performance is its strong suit. If you’re seeking maximum comfort, you should consider the Benz-branded GLS instead because of its firm ride, especially on the optional 23-inch wheels. Nearly equivalent to the less aggressive model’s comfort and tech features are a wall of digital displays on the dashboard, modern connectivity options, supportive seats, premium materials, and lots of styles.
What’s New?
A new set of taillights and new 21-, 22-, and 23-inch wheel designs are added to the GLS63 for 2024. When the front doors are opened, new puddle lamps illuminate the ground below, and the Benz insignia above the grille has been changed to an AMG-specific one. This year, the GLS63’s brake calipers are also painted red, and a new steering wheel spruces up the inside. There are now more interior color options available, and Mercedes has introduced more standard features such as a performance exhaust system, heated and ventilated front seats, automatic high-beam headlamps, and a panoramic sunroof.
Mercedes-AMG GLS-Class Engine, Power, Performance & Acceleration
The twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine in the GLS63 generates a staggering 603 horsepower with the aid of a 48-volt hybrid system. Air suspension, a nine-speed automatic gearbox, and AWD are all standard. The GLS63 outperformed several hot sports cars we’ve tested on the test track, blazing through a blistering 3.6-second zero-to-60-mph run. In contrast, the outdated GLS63, which produced only 577 horsepower, accomplished a respectable 4.3-second zero-to-60-mph time. Even if the GLS’s acceleration astounded us, we can’t say the same about its handling. The ride is stiff, especially when equipped with the optional 23-inch wheels, but this firmness doesn’t convert into a sense of unflappable precision when cornering, even though it provides sufficient grip for some amusing driving on a winding road.

The dual-screen infotainment system seen in the non-AMG model is standard equipment for the GLS63. The digital gauge display and the center infotainment display are formed by two 12.3-inch screens that are tucked close to one another in a common bezel. The MBUX interface from Mercedes-Benz can be used via voice command, touchscreen, or the click wheel placed on the center console. Integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot is also included.
Pricing
2024 Mercedes-AMG GLS-Class Trims | Price (USD) |
GLS63 | $150,000 (est) |
Even if the starting price of the GLS63 is well into the six figures, we’d still recommend a few extras that are sure to please the whole family. One benefit of the Warmth and Comfort package is that it adds heated door panels, heated armrests, and a heated center console, which is a pleasant addition for people who live in colder areas. Additionally, we recommend the Acoustic Comfort package, which adds enhanced cabin insulation for a quieter interior, and the Energising package, which includes the in-cabin aroma diffuser. In addition, Mercedes-AMG provides several stand-alone options that can attract your attention. One such option is the insane 23-inch multi-spoke forged wheels, which look fantastic when framed within the muscular wheel wells of the GLS63.
