Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Specifications & Features
The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class SUV has the style and features you’re used to, but competitor SUVs in the mid-size sector are closely matched, even if you’re a die-hard Mercedes-Benz buyer. The Benz is stylish and cutting-edge, with four different available powertrains that range from a straightforward turbo inline-four to a twin-turbo V8. Depending on your preferences, a monolithic dashboard display offers nearly as much digital space as Times Square. This may be either amazing or bothersome. The Mercedes boasts greater off-road performance when outfitted with an optional air suspension that may provide additional ground clearance or even jiggle the GLE to and fro to help the vehicle free itself from sand or mud, in contrast to competitors like the Genesis GV80 and the Volvo XC90.
The GLE-class SUV’s 2024 redesign and new plug-in hybrid drivetrain are its main highlights. With a turbocharged four-cylinder and an electric motor, the GLE400e model joins the roster and should offer a sufficient electric driving range to prevent needing petrol on local short excursions. For 2024, the GLE-class’s exterior look has been somewhat changed with a new front bumper, updated grille, new lighting fixtures, and redesigned wheels. Touch-sensitive controls have been fitted to a new steering wheel that incorporates spokes. The options sheet now includes new two-tone upholstery choices as well as updated chrome trim around the air vents. The second iteration of Mercedes’ MBUX infotainment system, which now supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, is also available in the GLE-Class.
Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Engine, Power, Performance & Acceleration
A 255-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with either rear- or all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automated gearbox powers models with the GLE350 badge. The GLE450 offers standard all-wheel drive (AWD) and a 362-hp inline-six turbocharged engine. The GLE350 and GLE450 both have 48-volt hybrid powertrains. The plug-in hybrid powertrain of the GLE450e combines an electric motor and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine to produce 381 horsepower in total. The six-cylinder GLE450 managed a 5.3-second time, while the test GLE350 needed 6.6 seconds to reach 60 mph. The most powerful and expensive non-AMG vehicle is the Benz-branded GLE580. Here, a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 and a 48-volt system work together to produce up to 504 horsepower. A sophisticated air suspension system that can lean into curves and even wriggle itself free if the driver gets the GLE bogged in sand or mud is available for every GLE.
Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Mileage
|2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Mileage||City||Highway|
|GLE350||20 mpg||25 mpg|
|GLE450||20 mpg||25 mpg|
|GLE580||16 mpg||21 mpg|
Surprisingly, the six-cylinder GLE450 with all-wheel drive has the same fuel-economy estimate as the rear-drive, four-cylinder GLE350; both have EPA ratings of 20 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. The V-8-powered GLE580 burns gas at a faster rate and is expected to have estimates of 16 mpg city, 21 highway, and 18 combined. The EPA has not yet released fuel economy estimates for the GLE450e.

Nearly the entire length of the dashboard is taken up by dual 12.3-inch infotainment screens, which offer the MBUX speech recognition system as one of many methods to interface with the system. MBUX can answer a variety of instructions, much like Apple’s Siri or Google’s virtual assistant, allowing the driver to retain their hands on the wheel while still turning up the heat, activating the ventilated seat function, or tuning into a certain radio station. The infotainment system’s touchpad on the center console and touch-sensitive screen enable tactile contact. However, not every menu is organized logically. It is best to navigate them while the GLE is parked. Wireless Keeping up with calls, texts, and other communications while on the move is a little bit easier thanks to standard features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot.

After testing two of the four possible engines, we advise going with the base GLE350 model with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Although it has the least power, it nonetheless propels the GLE with enough authority to please the majority of drivers and provided the best fuel efficiency throughout our testing. We would spend on the Premium package (Burmester audio system, 360-degree camera, and 115-volt household-style power outlet) and the Warmth and Comfort package (heated front armrests and top door panels) with the money we saved by choosing the base model. Additionally, we would include four-zone climate control and heated seats for the second row, both of which are stand-alone options.
