Mini Cooper JCW Specifications & Features
The Mini Cooper is adorable as a button, and while its small size is a drawback due to its lack of cargo room, it works perfectly for navigating mountain roads. The John Cooper Works version’s apparent preference for driving performance over comfort can be seen. The 228-hp turbocharged inline-four in the 2024 Mini Cooper JCW is paired with either an eight-speed automatic or a six-speed manual gearbox that is only available on hardtop models. The car’s suspension setting produces a touch too harsh handling that makes it feel like its 17-inch tires are stuck to the pavement. It’s still the only small with a convertible option that offers this much fun.

For the 2024 model year, Mini doesn’t make any significant modifications to the John Cooper Works Hardtop lineup, but the JCW Convertible’s starting price has increased significantly from last year’s $41,500. High-quality materials and humorous design cues, such the circular frame that contains the touchscreen for the infotainment system, can be found inside the JCW’s cabin. The Mini doesn’t perform very well in terms of usefulness when compared to comparable subcompacts. Legroom in the backseat is limited; most adults will feel crowded. The Mini has nine cubic feet of cargo capacity behind the rear seats in the Hardtop and 34 cubic feet with the seats folded.
Mini Cooper JCW Engine, Power, Acceleration & Performance
A 2.0-liter inline-four turbocharged with 228 horsepower powers the Mini Cooper JCW. While buyers of the Hardtop have the option of either that or a six-speed manual gearbox, the convertible only comes with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. A JCW convertible equipped with the slushbox clocked 5.7 seconds to reach 60 mph during track testing. The JCW’s natural rival, a Volkswagen GTI with an automated gearbox, completed it in 5.1 seconds. The JCW adds features including Brembo brakes, a more aggressive suspension, and an electronically locking front differential in comparison to the normal Mini Cooper. This everything works together to produce accurate handling that thrills aficionados. On bad roads, this Mini’s stiff suspension can cause an uncomfortable choppy ride.

Estimates for the JCW’s fuel efficiency change depending on the gearbox and body design. The Hardtop with the eight-speed automatic is the most fuel-efficient combination, with ratings of 25 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the interstate. The JCW with the six-speed manual gearbox had EPA ratings of 22 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.

The 8.8-inch infotainment display in every Mini JCW has a SiriusXM satellite radio, a six-speaker stereo, Bluetooth phone connectivity, and audio streaming. A high-end Harman/Kardon audio system, in-dash navigation, Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity, and wireless device charging are all included in the list of optional features. Unfortunately, Android Auto is not supported.

LED headlights, front fog lights, rain-sensing wipers, heated and power-adjustable side mirrors, and a rear spoiler are all standard on the JCW Hardtop. Although the Signature Trim adds a panoramic sunroof, heated front seats and dual-zone automatic climate control, we would still stick with the six-speed manual gearbox.
