2024 Porsche 718 Cayman All Prices, Engine, Mileage, Top-Speed, 0-60 MPH & Features

The 2024 Porsche 718 Cayman is a charmingly antique sports car that retains a vintage Porsche’s visceral, analog feel while providing contemporary conveniences like touchscreen infotainment and Apple CarPlay. Sports cars and sporting vehicles of all types are held to the highest standards today thanks to their brilliant steering and surgically exact handling. The Cayman and its convertible counterpart, the 718 Boxster, have a balance that front-engine competitors like the Jaguar F-Type or Toyota Supra can’t equal. Although the base four-cylinder turbocharged engine makes a loud noise, it has plenty of power, and in S models, a larger-displacement four provides even more. In the GTS, GT4, and GT4 RS, an optional 4.0-liter flat-six engine with up to 493 horsepower adds sweet tones to the blend. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox is available and runs with a well-honed slickness. A six-speed manual transmission is standard.

What’s New?

For 2024, Porsche will release a new Cayman Style Edition model that builds on the basic model but adds a few designs flourishes like black tailpipes, 20-inch wheels, and optional hood and door stripes. A heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, illuminated door sill guards, unique floormats with chalk-colored stitching, and headrests with an embossed Porsche insignia are all included in the interior. Beyond the updated trim, the 718 Cayman range will remain the same in 2024. The Cayman’s cabin fits you like a superhero’s suit thanks to its clear gauges, cozy seats, and strategically positioned controls. However, there are too many stiff buttons and a few cheap plastic parts to make the interior stick out in this class. Thankfully, Porsche will coat almost any surface in leather—but not without a price.

Engine & Performance

On the Cayman, Porsche provides a variety of powerful engines. A 2.0-liter flat-four with a turbocharger and 300 horsepower is the base model. A 350-horsepower turbocharged 2.5-liter flat-four powers the S version. Even the basic four-cylinder model has quick acceleration, but we don’t like the loud noises it makes. Fortunately, the Cayman’s auditory problems are resolved by the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine. Along with making intoxicating sounds, the six-cylinder engine produces 394, 414, and 493 horsepower in the GTS 4.0, GT4, and new GT4 RS, respectively. Any Cayman comes standard with a smooth six-speed manual transmission, which is possibly the finest one on the market, regardless of the engine you select. If that’s not your thing, you can also get a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic with shift paddles mounted on the steering column. The Cayman’s telepathic steering and obstinate chassis go beyond excellence.

The base Cayman is expected to get up to 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the motorway, according to the EPA. A GT4 with a manual transmission is rated at 16 mpg city and 23 mpg highway, while the more potent S variant is rated at 19 mpg city and 25 highway with the automatic.

Dimensions & Space

The Cayman’s basic touchscreen infotainment system is easy to use and responds to user inputs quite quickly. Every model now includes Apple CarPlay compatibility, but Porsche nickels and dimes its consumers by charging extra for select goodies like built-in navigation and a Wi-Fi hotspot. There is no Android Auto available. A Bose stereo or a high-end Burmester unit with 12 speakers and a combined output of 821 can be added to the music system.
