Internally known as the 2025 Lotus Type 135, Lotus’ next electric sports car is expected to maintain the two hallmarks of the brand. Lightness and simplicity. The two-seat EV will usher in a new era for Lotus. While also maintaining true to those roots because it will be the first car to make use of the new LEVA platform. The roadster version of the electric coupe will be available with a 66.4 kWh battery pack and a single motor with RWD. The maximum expected overall output is 470 horsepower. The 2025 Lotus Type 135 intends to uphold the company’s reputation for fun-to-drive vehicles like the Elise and Evora GT. Simply put, it will eventually take the place of the Lotus Emira and will be an electric version of that car.

According to sources, the Type 135 will first be offered as a coupe in 2025, followed by a roadster. The Type 135 is being developed in the United Kingdom and will be manufactured at the company’s factory in Hethel alongside the Emira. In contrast to the Eletre SUV and the future EV car, both of which will be engineered in Germany and constructed in China. The 135 might even adopt the Eleva moniker—which in some languages means ‘to raise’—but the carmaker hasn’t yet decided on an official name.

The Type 135 will run on Lotus’s brand-new Lightweight Electric Vehicle Architecture platform. Which is constructed of bonded aluminum and employs a cast-aluminum rear subframe. The British sports car is anticipated to have its battery situated behind the passenger compartment rather than under the floor, in contrast to the majority of EVs.
