Citroen eC3: Finally 320 Km Range

Citroen eC3 Unveiled Ahead of Launch

Citroen has unwrapped the eC3, the all-electric version of the C3 hatchback which is already selling in India. With a price announcement coming for the days. The carmaker will also be exporting the eC3 from India, giving its sales volumes a boost, which has been upsettingly low. The bookings for the eC3 will commence on January 22 and it will reach the showrooms next month. The eC3 gets a 29.2kWh battery pack and has Tiago EV as its rival, and prices will be announced soon. Citroen eC3 looks identical to its ICE-powered counterpart inside out. The only difference is in the exterior, which lacks a tailpipe and a new charging port on the front fender. Meanwhile, the interior gets a slightly revised center console, with a new drive controller replacing the manual gear lever.

All other exterior body panels, interior, and mechanicals, which have already been allocated for the petrol-powered C3, remain unchanged. This trick is followed to optimize costs for the eC3 and sharing parts and components with its ICE counterpart will help achieve better economies of scale. The EV gets a 29.2kWh battery pack sourced from Chinese firm Svolt, although the French look to localize it in the long run. The EV comes with a 3.3kW onboard AC charger which is capable of CCS2 fast charging. The front-axle-mounted electric motor generates 57hp and 143Nm of peak torque and an ARAI-certified range of 320km. It also has two driving modes; eco and standard; and also gets regenerative braking.
