Ford Mustang GT4 vs Dodge Challenger Demon: Which is better?

The seventh generation of the Ford Mustang was greatly influenced by racing. Ford presented various race cars based on the powerful V-8 muscle car, including the NHRA drag racer and the Dark Horse R track toy when they introduced the 2024 Mustang. Recently, Ford revealed the Mustang GT4, which serves as an entry-level car for drivers interested in participating in wheel-to-wheel races. The GT4 joins the previously announced GT3 and Dark Horse R in Ford’s motorsports lineup, and it is based on the road version of the Dark Horse. The street-legal drag-strip special bears resemblance to the previous Demon, but this time, Dodge’s development team has performed all the necessary steps to achieve a horsepower figure in the thousands from the renowned Hellcat V-8 engine. The Demon 170 is a remarkable farewell to an already impressive lineup of muscle cars known for their wild nature.

Engine, Power & Performance

The Demon 170 possesses a truly wicked feature beneath its hood. Nestled within its framework lies a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine that has undergone extensive internal enhancements compared to its predecessor, sharing only a camshaft with its predecessor. When fueled with E85, this engine generates an impressive output of 1025 horsepower and 945 pound-feet of torque. Should E85 not be readily available, 91-octane fuel will still provide a formidable 900 horses and 810 pound-feet of torque. Dodge boldly asserts that the Demon 170 achieved a quarter-mile time of 8.61 seconds at 151 mph, although it must be noted that these feats were accomplished on a specially prepared surface. The same applies to its claim of reaching 60 mph in a mere 1.66 seconds.

Price & Features

Dodge provides limited choices for its formidable coupe. For an extra $11,495, customers can opt for a lightweight wheel package that allegedly reduces the Challenger’s weight by 25 pounds. There are also rumors of an upcoming street-tire package, although its price remains undisclosed. However, buyers have the freedom to procure their own set of wheels and tires, avoiding the need to rely on Dodge’s restricted selection. If someone dares to join the ride, the passenger seat is available as an additional option. The starting price for the Dodge Challenger Demon is $100,361.
