Toyota is working on an SUV, a smaller version of the previously showcased Land Cruiser Prado to rival the Suzuki Jimny
The Japanese automaker teased the upcoming SUV at the unveiling of the Land Cruiser Prado. The SUV will be a scaled-down version of the new Land Cruiser Prado. Reports suggest the upcoming Toyota SUV will be called Toyota Land Hopper. The company has trademarked the name in Japan and will likely use the name for the global markets.

The upcoming Toyota SUV will come in different names according to the region it will be sold. Like the Land Cruiser 250 sold in North America, the automaker launched with the Land Cruiser Prado name officially. Toyota’s upcoming rugged SUV will likely be an updated version of the popular FJ Cruiser sold previously in both North American and Japanese markets.
Toyota’s design chief stated the Land Cruiser lineup to see more models in the lineup as an ‘Affordable’ name. The Land Cruiser lineup will be in line with the Crown lineup with multiple lineups now that the Century is now a luxury lineup.

The Compact cruiser, the upcoming Toyota SUV looks similar to the teaser, the automaker showcased in 2021. Apart from that, Toyota also plans to use the Land Cruiser tag for further electrified mobility vehicles from 2025. It leads to the conclusion the company’s infamous logo is here to stay for longer than we think. After the ICE-powered engine, we might see the company’s future models with an electrified powertrain.
The teaser shows the upcoming Toyota SUV with a C-shaped front LED light at the front. The roof resembles the silhouette from the Compact Cruiser design tapered off at the back. Key differences estimate a spare wheel on the rear and the design looking similar to the current generation Corolla Cross.
