Performance & Details of 2023 Ford Bronco
2023 Ford Bronco Sport will satisfy roles if one’s lifestyle includes city commutes during the week and off-the-grid activities during the weekend. The compact body makes it more maneuverable than the regular Bronco off-roader and its well-designed cabin provides ample space for hauling coolers, tents, hiking boots, and fishing poles for outdoor adventures. These adventures don’t have to end at the trailhead, as the American Carmaker has given the Bronco Sport legitimate all-terrain capability. A turbocharged three-pot engine is standard, as is all-wheel drive. If opted for the Badlands trim and the Bronco Sport gets more aggressive with all-terrain tires, a more powerful turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a lifted suspension, and a tuned all-wheel drive system. With that equipment, the Bronco Sport can travel trails and obstacles alongside its cross-town rival, the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk.
What’s New?
Ford has added two special edition variants to the Bronco Sport lineup for 2023. The Heritage Edition and the Heritage Limited Edition. Both the trims, offer vintage Bronco styling vibes such as pastel exterior colors and white-painted trim pieces showing off a 1960s vibe. The Heritage Edition is based on the mid-range Big Bend trim level while the Heritage Limited uses the loaded Badlands model as its base. The latter comes with more off-roading gear than the former. The Bronco Sport’s interior features an attractive design and a plethora of standard features. The little brother also has an impressive amount of space and several neat innovations.
Engine & Performance
The Bronco Sport is based on the same platform that underpins the compact Escape crossover. And every model has all-wheel drive as standard. A 181-hp, turbocharged 1.5-Liter three-pot is the base engine, but an optional 245-hp turbo 2.0-Liter four-cylinder is also available. Both the engines pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission, but the more powerful engine invites steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters and upgraded cooling components. The Sport can also tow between 2000 and 2200 pounds. The top-tier Badlands trim level packs an assortment of exclusive and highlighting equipment. This includes a twin-clutch rear-drive unit with a differential lock. It also has all-terrain tires mounted on 17-inch wheels, a 1.0-inch suspension lift for added ground clearance, and stouter shock absorbers. Its off-road abilities also exceed expectations, but it still has limitations before trying to tackle the Rubicon Trail.
Fuel Economy
2023 Ford Bronco Sport Mileage | City | Highway |

Turbocharged 4-Cylinder | 21 mpg | 26 mpg |
Ford Bronco Sport with a three-cylinder engine option is more fuel efficient and delivers 25 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. Heading towards powerful four-cylinder variants delivers 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. With an off-roader like this, it is likely to get less mileage.
