New Skoda Kodiaq Design
The upcoming second-generation Skoda Kodiaq continues the evolutionary design language of its predecessor. Recognizable elements include the sleek headlamps, high-set fog lamps flanking the iconic Skoda ‘Butterfly’ grille, and a contoured bonnet. The new Kodiaq features distinctive C-shaped tail lights with a connecting light bar running the width of the tailgate. The front showcases Skoda’s signature grille and a split LED matrix headlamp setup. The SUV boasts a boxy yet refined appearance, with squared-off wheearcheshe. It has a choice of wheels ranging from 17 to 20 inches.
Interior and Features
The interior of the second-generation Skoda Kodiaq represents a significant departure from its predecessor. The dashboard showcases an all-new design with a soft-touch material dominating the center section, housing a sizable 12.9-inch central touchscreen. A unique feature iahe trio of dials low on the center console, each incorporating small 1.25-inch displays for controlling various infotainment and air-conditioning functions. The SUV will be available in both five and seven-seat configurations. Notably, physical controls for the HVAC system and other functions will be present, marking a trend toward their return in mass-production vehicles. This comprehensive setup complements the 12.9-inch touchscreen and a 10-inch digital instrument cluster.
Engine and Performance
Skoda’s upcoming Kodiaq will offer a diverse range of powertrains to cater to various preferences. The lineup includes standard petrol and diesel engines, mild-hybrid systems, and plug-in hybrids. The petrol options consist of a 1.5-liter turbocharged mild-hybrid engine delivering 148 bhp and a 2.0-liter TSI unit with 261 bhp and four-wheel drive capability. Diesel enthusiasts can choose between two states of tune for the 2.0-liter diesel engine, offering either 148 bhp for two-wheel drive models or 190 bhp for 4×4 versions. The Kodiaq will feature a 1.5-liter TSI engine paired with an electric motor, generating a combined output of 201 bhp. This plug-in hybrid powertrain will incorporate a 25.7 kWh battery pack, providing an impressive 100 km of EV-only range. All engine options will come equipped with dual-clutch automatic gearboxes as standard.
Pricing
The New Skoda Kodiaq is set to make its global debut on October 4, 2023, with production scheduled to commence in early 2024. Alongside this exciting release, Skoda will also unveil the new Superb sedan later in the year. The current-generation Kodiaq is available with a petrol engine and is priced between Rs 38.5 lakh and Rs 41.95 lakh.
