2023 AMG C63 ditched its old V8 with a new hybrid inline-4 with F1 tech. The model’s biggest change ever, all thanks to an all-new hybrid drivetrain. The well-known Mercedes-AMG V8 has bid farewell and in its place, a turbocharged 4-Cylinder engine augmented by a hybrid system.
What’s New in 2023 AMG C63?
The new AMG C63 will rely on a clean design, which comprises a longitudinally-mounted version of the M139 turbocharged 2.0L inline-four found in the CLA45, and a rear-mounted electric motor. The M139 Inline-4 will utilize an electric turbocharger setup, replacing the conventional setup found in the CLA45. The unique e-turbo removes turbo lag and improves response. The electric motor supports a boosted inline-4 and features its custom 2-speed transmission for better high-speed performance.

The new combined output from this plethora of powertrain improvements is rumored to be above 500 hp. But expect this new AMG C63 to match the old model, which topped out at 503 hp with its conventional twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine.
