These 5 Cars Deserve A Rear Wing While The Other 5 Don’t

Overview

Rear wings are generally placed on cars that can move at high speeds. These rear wings make the vehicle stay grounded by pushing them down so that the vehicle can move faster. There are few cars that deserve to have a rear wing but the manufacturers do not place them. Putting these will increase their speed and also help in the overall design of the vehicle. And also there are a few cars that are overdone with the rear wings which completely are unnecessary. So here is a list of 10 cars in which 5 of them deserve a rear wing and the other 5 don’t.

Cars that deserve a rear wing

The Honda NSX is basically marketed as Acura NSX in the North American market. This is a hybrid electric vehicle with a 3.5 L twin-turbocharged V6 engine and 3 electric motors. This produces a combined output of 573 hp. With the 9-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission this vehicle can reach a top speed of 190 mph. And with the sporty design, this vehicle looks incredible. But it would have been even better if the company managed to put a rear wing on it.

2. Toyota GR86/Subaru BRZ

These two vehicles are very much identical in design and dimensions. And both have a naturally aspirated 2.4L boxer-four cylinder engine that can produce a maximum of 228 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. These vehicles have looked more powerful if they had a rear wing either as a standard one or at least optional.

3. BMW M4 Competition

This vehicle has a 3.0L twin-turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine that is capable of generating a power output of 473 horsepower with 406 lb-ft of torque. It has a standard six-speed manual transmission with a rear-wheel-drive which helps the vehicle to accelerate from 0-60mph in 4.1 seconds. This vehicle looks too good with a rear wing but doesn’t have one.

4. Toyota Supra

This vehicle has a 3.0L turbo inline-six-cylinder engine that can generate a maximum power of 382 hp and 500 Nm of torque. With the standard rear-wheel drive that vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 60 MPH in just 3.7 seconds and can reach a top speed of 155 mph. This deserves to have a rear wing for such a design of the vehicle.

5. Lexus LC500

This vehicle with a 5.0L V8 engine is capable of generating a power output of 471 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque. This has a 10-speed automatic transmission which allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0-60mph in 4.6 sec. The top speed of this vehicle is 168 mph and looks too good if equipped with a rear wing.

Cars that don’t deserve a rear wing

1. Toyota Celica GT-S

This vehicle is considered one of the worst vehicles Toyota ever made. It comes with a 1.8-liter twin-cam 16-valve engine. That can make 180 horsepower at 7,600 rpm and 133 footpounds of torque at 6,800 rpm and 7,800 rpm. With a standard six-speed manual transmission. The vehicle does not need a rear wing because it doesn’t need to look sportier for a less powerful vehicle like this.

2. Chevy Cobalt SS

This vehicle has a 2.0L inline-4 cylinder engine that is capable of generating a power output of  260 hp. The vehicle can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.9 sec and has a top speed of 158 mph. This compact car looks different with a rear wing and doesn’t appear good with that.

3. Lexus RC-F Track Edition

This vehicle has a 5.0-liter V-8 engine that can produce a maximum of 472 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque. With an eight-speed automatic transmission powering the rear wheels the vehicle can accelerate from 0-60mph in 4.3 seconds. This vehicle costs over $100,000 and with the rear wing it doesn’t look that great for a vehicle like this.
