Overview
2022 GMC Acadia is completely family-friendly, which easily hides under a veil of ruggedness. The spacious first and second rows of the Acadia will be immensely loved by the families, but the third row might make some howl. As standard, it features enough infotainment and driver-assistance technologies, which will satisfy those modern lookers. What’s New?
The entry-level SL trim has been removed from the 2022 lineup, making the well-equipped SLE the new base. The base 2.5L four-cylinder is also removed, leaving only a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder and a 3.6L V6. It features a ton of driver-assistance features as standard across the lineup, which includes automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring. Also, a new optional color, Light Stone Metallic, and two new 18- and 20-inch wheel designs are available. The interior design is attractive, and most of the controls are intuitive.
The gauge cluster is black and white with red needles providing information at a glance. The tilt and telescope steering column gives more range to very tall or very short drivers in a comfortable position. The steering wheel is leather-wrapped and features an aluminum trim that feels premium. The Acadia offers plenty of technology for the whole family. There is no lack of USB ports and a Wi-Fi hotspot, and passengers can easily stay connected. The charging part might be tricky, as no more than one device can be charged via the 12-volt outlet, as only one of those outlets is provided.
Engine, Performance, Top-Speed, 0-60 Mph & Mileage
The base engine is the turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder producing a good 228 hp and the optional 3.6L V6 makes 310 hp. The nine-speed automatic and FWD are standard with either, and AWD is optional. The adaptive suspension is standard on the Denali and optional on SLT trim with the 0-60 mph run time of 6.1 seconds. The top speed is 131 mph and it is EPA rated at 19 mpg in the city and 27 on the highway.
Price
The base SLE starts at $36,145 and tops at $47,945 for the Denali. We would recommend the mid-level SLT, which has all the needful equipment. Such as leather upholstery, remote start, heated front seats, in-dash navigation, and a hands-free tailgate. In addition to these, the SLT has extras too. These include standard LED headlights, heated, power-adjustable mirrors, and keyless entry and push-button start.
