2014 -2020 Jeep Cherokee
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) started investigating the 2014 -2020 Jeep Cherokee after the vehicle received almost 80 complaints from the owners. These complaints are related to the electronic parking brakes.
So the issue is these parking brakes being activated while the vehicle is moving. This led to many accidents and injuries to the drivers. Based on the reports and the repair invoices the NHTSA suspects that the leakage of water is causing this electronic parking brake to malfunction. In addition to that issue, a owner made a report on the official website saying “While driving on a four-lane highway at 65 mph the vehicle partially lost power and would not accelerate, upshift, or downshift, the brake lights started flashing, along with many other lights on the dash including check engine.” So with almost 1,341,055 vehicles involved this investigation is in the initial stages.
