2023 Lexus RX is the newest-gen SUV from Lexus, which has remained a big seller despite the lack of a new heavy redesign for some time. But, it looks like the wait will be over soon. An all-new gen RX is being launched for 2023 replacing the outgoing seven-year-old model. A plethora of powertrains is to be offered, which includes a new plug-in hybrid version. The new styling is much sharper than the current model’s. At the front fascia, there’s a new version of the brand’s widely stretched grille and Lexus’s recognizable L-shaped DRLs, and out the rear is a full-width taillight bar. Cabin accommodations are more premium this time around, as the cabin features a large 14.0-inch infotainment touchscreen and the latest tech features. The outgoing model was offered in either two- or three-row configurations but the 2023 RX is only teased as a two-row model.

What’s New?
The Lexus RX sports the RX in silhouette and glasshouse, changing up the Lexus’ spindle grille. The body rides on a 2.36-inch longer wheelbase than the last-gen RX. The new RX now comes with a new 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system that’s also in the NX. The Lexus signature grille has shrunk in square feet, fading into the bumper. The redesigned headlights lost some of Lexus’ fluidity, for a more generic appearance. The stance can sit on optional 21-inch wheels.
Engine & Performance
The 2023 RX is available with no less than four different powertrains. Starting with the base RX350 model which houses a 275-hp turbocharged 2.5-Liter four-pot engine. That model is paired with an eight-speed automatic and FWD is standard, while an all-wheel drive is optional. The hybrid RX350h sports an arrangement of electric motors with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine pumping out 246-hp mated with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and all-wheel drive. Keeping up to the RX500h F Sport Performance combines the turbocharged 2.4-liter and electric power to make 367-hp. It utilizes Lexus’s Direct4 system to deliver that power to all four wheels. A plug-in hybrid model; named RX450h+—will join the lineup later, and the brand hasn’t released specs on that yet. The new 8-speed automatic mating sharpens the performance, with a claimed 0-60mph in 5.9 seconds.

Interior options now include six different colors for upholstery, and four trim options are available including bamboo, open-pore wood, and aluminum finishes. The new platform and longer wheelbase enhances rear legroom, and a lower loading lip in the boot improves load-ability. All the changes to the new Lexus RX are pretty decent as the RX has been the bestseller of the Lexus range.

Lexus hasn’t released much information on pricing and features, so we’ll hold to give a recommendation. But if our estimates are correct, the RX will be offered with a wide range of powertrains as well as in regular and F Sport trims. The sportiest model will be the RX500h F Sport Performance trim, which gets a 367-hp hybrid powertrain with standard all-wheel drive.
