Lamborghini To Offer A V8 Hybrid Engine With The Huracan Successor

Lamborghini CTO Rouven Mohr disclosed details about the upcoming Huracan successor earlier this month. Keeping the secrets out, Mohr said the Huracan replacement will offer a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The supercar will come with a hybrid setup paired with either a V6 or a V12 engine.

However, a new report by Motortrend shed some light on the discussion and unveiled new details about the upcoming Lambo. According to the reports, the Italian carmaker will allegedly use a V8 engine paired with an electric motor setup. It is said that Lamborghini will drop the V10 engine which the automaker has been using for years. Switching to the V8 means less carbon footprint, even more, when paired with an electric motor. The car would still offer all-wheel drive and a ferocious acceleration like its predecessor. We just have to see how the Lamborghini engineers find the space for the car’s electrical components. With the new engine, the Huracan successor will be made on a new platform and a new architecture.

Motortrend says the Huracan successor will offer a tuned engine making the turbo boost engage after 7,000 rpm. With the new electrical assistance, the new Lamborghini will operate differently with its hybrid turbo boost kicking after 10,000. The Italian carmaker will offer the Huracan hybrid with the plan to electrify its lineup to meet the emission regulations. Lamborghini plans to offer only hybrid cars after 2024 to reach the less carbon goal by 2030.

Meanwhile, Lamborghini Urus is expected to come with a hybrid V8 engine from the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. The twin-turbocharged V8 paired with an electric motor makes a hefty 689 hp (514 KW) and offers rocket acceleration of under 2.5 seconds.
