Overview
With hybrid powertrain the 2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is good to opt for with its spacious cabin and boot space and some standard features offered. It is powered by the same 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine assisted by two electric motors. It is quicker than the gasoline RAV4 and surprisingly four-cylinder model of Toyota Supra. But its handling is unexciting same like gasoline powered RAV4 and can’t come-up with the rivals Hyundai Tucson and Honda CR-V as compared to its high starting price.
What’s New For 2022 ?
The base variant LE gets a new headlamps setup and new wheel design is offered from XLE variant onwards. Just like the regular RAV4 new Calvary Blue color is also available. The new mid-variant SE joins for 2022 RAV4’s lineup and placed between XLE Premium and XSE which includes 7.0-inch touchscreen and 6-speaker audio system and optional 9.0-inch touchscreen, power tailgate and sunroof.

The features available are 8.0 or 9.0-inch infotainment screen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Wi-Fi hotspot and optional 11-speaker JBL stereo system with navigation. Power adjustable driver’s seat, sunroof, passive keyless entry, heated ORVMs and LED projector headlamps with automatic high beams.
It scored 5-start safety rating in NHTSA. It offers plenty of standard safety features such as lane departure warning with lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control and automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection.

Engine, Top Speed, 0-60 mph & Performance
The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid comes with 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine working with two electric motors to produce 219 HP and mated continuous variable transmission (CVT) with all-wheel drive as a standard. The gasoline engine and an electric motors powers the front axle and other electric motor drive the rear wheels. It can hit 0 to 60 MPH in 7.4 seconds and have a top speed of 112 mph i.e. RAV4 hybrid is efficient as well as faster. RAV4’s ride is comfortable but the handling is just ok and can’t be compete with its rivals. If you want more performance you can opt for its Prime variant which is very quicker that it can cross 0 to 60 MPH in just 5.6 seconds.
Battery & Range
The RAV4 Prime uses the 18.1-kWh battery setup and delivers 42 miles of driving range with its electric-only mode. It offered 3.3-kWh standard charger and 6.6-kWh optional charger. It is expected that it will take 12 hours to recharge with 120-volt power outlet and 2.5 hours with 240-volt.

According to EPA, the RAV4 Hybrid delivers 41 mpg in city, 38 mpg on highway and 40 mpg combined which far ahead than the non-hybrid all-wheel drive RAV4.
