VinFast VF6 and VF7 Electric SUVs Launched in India From Rs 16.49 Lakh

Vietnamese electric carmaker VinFast has entered the Indian market with the launch of its two electric SUVs – the VF6 and VF7. Prices for the VF6 start at Rs 16.49 lakh, while the larger VF7 begins at Rs 20.89 lakh (both ex-showroom, introductory). Both models will be locally assembled at VinFast’s new plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. To attract early buyers, the company is offering free vehicle charging till July 2028 and three years of complimentary maintenance.

Compact VF6 Stylish and Practical

The VF6 is positioned as a compact electric SUV, similar in size to the Hyundai Creta. It gets a modern design with split headlamps, sleek daytime running lights, and a sloping roofline that gives it a sporty look. At the rear, VinFast’s signature split light bar adds a premium touch. Inside, the VF6 comes with a clean, minimal cabin centred around a 12.9-inch touchscreen. Instead of a traditional instrument cluster, all driving information is shown on a head-up display. Features like ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a powered driver’s seat, and a panoramic glass roof are offered in higher trims. All variants also get Level 2 ADAS for added safety.

VF6 Battery, Power and Range

The VF6 is offered in three trims Earth, Wind, and Wind Infinity. All three get a 59.6 kWh battery pack. The Earth variant makes 174 bhp and 250 Nm, while the other two trims produce 201 bhp and 310 Nm. On a full charge, the VF6 Earth can travel up to 468 km, while the Wind and Wind Infinity trims offer around 463 km. This puts it among the most practical options for daily use and long-distance travel in its segment.

Bigger VF7, Premium and More Powerful

The VF7 is a larger SUV, measuring around 4.5 metres in length. It carries forward the same modern styling as the VF6, but with a more imposing stance. The sleek profile, tapering roofline, and bold lighting setup make it stand out in the mid-size EV space. Step inside, and you’ll see a cabin layout very similar to the VF6 minimal, tech-focused, and centred around a large touchscreen. Just like its sibling, the VF7 also skips the traditional instrument cluster and offers digital controls for most functions. ADAS features are standard across all trims.

Buyers can pick between single-motor FWD or dual-motor AWD setups. The single-motor version makes 201 bhp and 310 Nm, while the AWD models produce 348 bhp and 500 Nm. Range varies between trims, with the VF7 Earth offering 438 km, the Wind going up to 532 km, and the Sky variant managing 510 km.

What It Means for Indian Buyers

With the launch of the VF6 and VF7, VinFast has made a bold entry into one of the fastest-growing EV markets in the world. Local assembly ensures competitive pricing, while long-range batteries and free charging support give buyers extra confidence to switch to electric. The VF6 will appeal to city buyers looking for an affordable electric SUV, while the VF7 targets families and professionals who want more space and power. With rivals like Tata, Hyundai, and Mahindra also pushing EVs aggressively, VinFast’s arrival will heat up competition and give Indian buyers more choice.
