Aprilia India has quietly phased out the SR 160 and brought in the new SR 175. This scooter comes with a 174cc air-cooled engine, making it the biggest scooter motor in India right now. Aprilia scooters have always been known for their sporty look and sharp handling, and the SR 175 takes that spirit forward with more power and everyday usability.
Quick Off the Line
During tests, the Aprilia SR 175 showed strong acceleration. It went from 0-40kph in 2.76 seconds, 0-60kph in 5.69 seconds, and 0-80kph in 11.35 seconds. These timings were recorded on wet roads after rain, which means it could be even quicker in dry conditions. The scooter feels punchy up to 60kph, keeping pace with its main rival, the Yamaha Aerox 155. Beyond that, the Yamaha pulls ahead slightly, but for daily riding, the Aprilia’s response is fast and satisfying.
Easy Overtakes

Rolling acceleration is where the SR 175 shines. It sprints from 20-50kph in 2.88 seconds, 30-70kph in 6.37 seconds, and 50-80kph in 7.37 seconds. These numbers translate into quick overtakes and smooth traffic moves. Inside the city, the scooter feels playful and effortless. Its torquey engine makes darting through gaps and pulling ahead from traffic lights a breeze. Even on short highway rides, the SR 175 feels stable and capable, which is rare for scooters under ₹2 lakh.
Strong Brakes
Aprilia has equipped the SR 175 with powerful brakes that give riders confidence. In testing, it came to a halt from 60kph in just 19.18 metres. The front brake does most of the work and offers good feedback, while the rear adds stability. The scooter also comes with single-channel ABS as standard. On Indian roads where surprises are common, this safety feature is a huge plus.
Tested the Right Way
The results you see aren’t rough guesses. Before testing, tyre pressures were checked as per Aprilia’s recommendation, the tank was filled, and all runs were measured using accurate GPS timing equipment. These steps ensure the numbers reflect real-world performance you can trust.
The Aprilia SR 175 is more than just a bigger SR 160. It’s a scooter that balances sporty fun with everyday use. While it may not outpace the Yamaha Aerox 155 at very high speeds, it makes up for it with quick city performance, strong braking, and all-round usability.
For riders who want a scooter that feels exciting yet practical, the SR 175 is one of the best options in its segment. Aprilia has managed to raise the bar once again, proving that scooters can deliver thrills without losing everyday comfort.
