Ather Energy has upgraded its flagship family scooter, the Rizta Z, with a brand-new touchscreen dashboard. The Bengaluru-based EV maker announced this update at its 2025 Community Day event, making the top-spec Rizta Z even more appealing to buyers. What’s even better is that existing owners don’t need to visit a service center Ather is rolling out this feature through an over-the-air (OTA) software update.
No Extra Hardware Needed for the Upgrade
The Rizta Z already had the hardware for touch controls built into its 7-inch TFT display. Until now, it functioned only as a standard screen, but the new software unlocks its touch capabilities. With this update, riders can swipe, tap, and navigate menus with ease, making the scooter feel more modern and tech-friendly. For those purchasing the Rizta Z now, the touchscreen will come enabled as standard.
Rizta S Still Gets the DeepView Display

The entry-level Rizta S will continue with Ather’s 7-inch ‘DeepView’ display, which offers sharp visibility but does not support touch input. This keeps the S model as the budget-friendly choice, while the Rizta Z stands out as the premium version with extra convenience features.
Rizta’s Strong Sales Success
The Ather Rizta has quickly become one of the company’s best-selling scooters. In just one year, it has crossed over one lakh units in retail sales. The family-friendly design, smooth ride quality, and reliable performance have made it a hit among everyday buyers. In fact, the Rizta now makes up about 60 percent of Ather’s total sales, proving its popularity in the electric scooter market.
Range and Performance Options
The Rizta is available in both S and Z variants, with three battery options 2.7 kWh, 2.9 kWh, and 3.7 kWh. Depending on the choice, riders can expect an IDC-certified range between 123 km and 159 km on a full charge. Both models deliver a peak power of 4.3 kW (5.77 bhp) and 22 Nm of torque. The scooter can go from 0-40 kmph in just 4.7 seconds and has a top speed of 80 kmph, making it perfect for city commuting.
Why This Update Matters for Buyers
For new buyers, the Rizta Z’s touchscreen dashboard adds a premium feel to an already feature-packed scooter. For existing owners, the free OTA update shows Ather’s commitment to supporting its customers even after purchase. With its mix of strong performance, multiple battery options, and now a modern touch-enabled display, the Rizta Z is set to stay a top choice for anyone looking at electric scooters in India.
