BMW iX3 Revealed, 805km Range and Ultra-Fast Charging

BMW has officially revealed the all-new iX3, its first electric SUV built on the company’s next-generation Neue Klasse platform. The model isn’t just another EV from the brand it marks the start of a new chapter, introducing bold design, new technology, and charging speeds that could change the game. Production is set to begin in November 2025, and BMW says the tech developed for the iX3 will soon spread across more than 40 models by 2027.

Exterior with a Fresh Look

The design of the new iX3 shows where BMW is headed. The SUV gets vertically styled kidney grilles that immediately stand out, while a sleek horizontal light bar replaces traditional chrome. The door handles now sit flush with the body, giving the car a cleaner look. Step closer and you’ll notice how the cockpit design flows smoothly into the door trims, creating a wraparound feel inside. Even before you start driving, the iX3 makes an impression. It welcomes passengers with an animated display of light and sound a small detail that highlights how BMW is blending technology with everyday experiences.

Modern Interior and New Tech

Inside, the iX3 brings in BMW’s latest Panoramic iDrive system. It runs on the company’s new Operating System X, combining multiple screens into a single central display. The steering wheel has been redesigned with new controls, while a 3D head-up display projects key information onto the windshield, so drivers don’t have to look away from the road. The cabin design aims to feel futuristic yet functional. BMW has focused on creating an interior that feels both digital and comfortable, a balance that will be central to its future electric cars.

Powerful New eDrive System

Under the skin, the iX3 debuts BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology. The car uses cylindrical-cell batteries that deliver 20 percent more energy density than before. Thanks to an 800V system, charging is faster and more efficient. A structural battery pack design also improves weight distribution and helps free up cabin space. Customers will be able to choose between single-motor and dual-motor setups, with the xDrive model adding an ASM motor at the front axle for all-wheel drive. BMW has also introduced what it calls “symbiotic brakes,” which can recover up to 98 percent of braking energy and feed it back into the battery.

Charging That Saves Time

One of the most exciting features is how quickly the iX3 can charge. Using a 400kW fast charger, the SUV can add up to 372 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes. For longer trips, that means a quick stop can get you back on the road without long delays. On a full charge, the iX3 can travel up to 805 kilometers (WLTP-certified). That puts it among the leaders in electric range and makes it a strong option for anyone worried about charging stops on long drives.

Looking Ahead for BMW

The launch of the iX3 is a major milestone for BMW. With production starting in late 2025, this SUV is just the beginning. The brand has confirmed that the technologies developed here will shape more than 40 upcoming models by 2027, making the iX3 a blueprint for the future of BMW’s electric lineup.
