India’s scooter industry has delivered a landmark performance in FY2026, setting records on both the domestic and export fronts. On the export side, Indian manufacturers shipped 6,82,931 scooters overseas in FY2026, up 20 percent year on year from 5,69,093 units in FY2025. This marks the third consecutive fiscal year that scooter exports have crossed the half-million milestone, and the numbers have nearly doubled over just four years, rising from 3,50,330 units in FY2022. Honda led the charge with a commanding 52 percent share, while TVS NTorq made the most notable jump up the rankings.

Model-by-Model Breakdown
- Honda Navi: The Unlikely Export Champion The Honda Navi continues to be India’s single largest scooter export, accounting for 25 percent of the country’s total scooter exports and 49 percent of Honda’s own export volume. Originally launched at Auto Expo 2016 and discontinued in India in 2020, the 109cc Navi rolls out of Honda’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan and is now one of the best-selling two-wheelers in the United States, where it retails at $1,899 (approximately Rs 1.58 lakh). Its combination of scooter convenience and motorcycle-like styling has found strong traction in the US urban commuter market and across Latin America.
- Honda Dio 110: Steady at Number Two The 110cc Honda Dio held its second position with 1,36,960 units exported, growing 8 percent year on year. It accounts for a 20 percent share of India’s total scooter exports and remains a consistent performer for HMSI on the global stage.
- TVS NTorq 125: Biggest Mover in the Top 5 The TVS NTorq 125 was the standout performer of FY2026, jumping from fourth to third place with exports of 97,467 units, up 50 percent year on year. It now holds a 14 percent share of total scooter exports, making it the top non-Honda model in the rankings and a growing force for TVS in global markets.
- Yamaha Ray 125: Slipping Despite Growth The Yamaha Ray 125, which held third position in FY2025, slipped one rank to fourth despite recording 70,105 units with a 4 percent growth. The slower pace of growth relative to peers like the NTorq cost it a podium position.
- Hero Xoom 111: The Biggest Rank Jump of FY2026 The Hero Xoom delivered the most dramatic rise in the rankings, leaping from tenth to fifth position with 46,545 units and a staggering 459 percent growth over FY2025’s 8,322 units. It is the clearest signal that Hero MotoCorp is becoming a more serious player in the export space.
- Suzuki Burgman and Access: Mixed Results The Suzuki Burgman 125 held its sixth rank with 40,853 units and 21 percent growth, though its export volumes remain well below the 61,679 units it achieved in FY2024. The Suzuki Access 125 was a surprise package, jumping sharply with 26,046 units and 374 percent growth to claim eighth position. Its sibling, the Avenis, slipped marginally to ninth with 9,087 units.
- TVS Jupiter and Honda Activa: Sharp Declines Two of India’s most prominent domestic scooters saw significant export drops in FY2026. The TVS Jupiter fell 55 percent to 8,819 units, slipping from seventh to tenth. The Honda Activa had an even steeper decline, with exports falling 83 percent to just 6,855 units, dropping it from fifth to eleventh position and out of the top 10 entirely.
Electric Scooter Exports: A Growing Opportunity
Electric scooter exports from India reached 8,698 units in FY2026, up 27 percent year on year. The top two performers mirror the domestic market:
- TVS iQube: 3,860 units, up 160% YoY
- Bajaj Chetak: 2,383 units, up 237% YoY
With a global crude oil supply crisis creating the likelihood of petrol price increases in several markets, Indian electric scooter manufacturers are well positioned to accelerate their export ambitions significantly in the coming years.
Brand-wise Export Share in FY2026
| Brand | Models in Top 10 | Notable Models |
|---|---|---|
| Honda | 3 | Navi, Dio 110, Dio 125 |
| Suzuki | 3 | Burgman, Access, Avenis |
| TVS | 2 | NTorq, Jupiter |
| Hero MotoCorp | 1 | Xoom |
| Yamaha | 1 | Ray 125 |
FY2026 has been a defining year for India’s scooter export story. The Honda Navi’s dominance from an overseas plant continues to be one of the more remarkable product stories in the Indian two-wheeler industry. The TVS NTorq’s 50 percent growth and climb to third place signals growing global appetite for Indian-made 125cc scooters, while the Hero Xoom’s explosive rise suggests the export landscape is becoming more competitive. On the electric side, the early numbers from TVS and Bajaj indicate that India’s EV manufacturers are beginning to find their footing in global markets, and the current global energy situation could accelerate that timeline considerably.
