With superior design and plenty of powertrain options the 2022 mid-size SUV Kia Sorento delivers smooth ride quality. The third row is only comfortable for children and due to third row it gets very less boot space. It doesn’t even get smartphone mirroring feature at this price point despite having a big infotainment system. Still it is quite engaging to drive and available with hybrid and plug-in hybrid option.

For 2022, the new plug-in hybrid version is available in SX and SX-P variants which is powered by turbo four-cylinder engine assisted by an electric motor to produce 261 HP and paired to 6-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive as a standard. It delivers fuel efficiency of 29 MPG and 32 miles of electric only range according to Kia.

Sorento gets some desirable features such as 8.0 or optional 10.3-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 12-speaker Bose audio system and wireless charging pad.
It scored 4-star safety rating according to NHTSA. Lane departure warning with lane keep assist and forward collision warning with automated emergency braking as a standard while rear cross traffic alert and blind spot monitoring is available as an optional.

The pure gasoline Sorento is available with two engine configurations such as 2.5-litre inline-four-cylinder engine makes 191 HP and 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine burns out 281 HP and mated to 8-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel or all-wheel drivetrain. The hybrid version is powered by turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine assisted by a 44.0-kWh electric motor to produce 227 HP and paired to 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drivetrain only. Another plug-in hybrid version is motivated by the same engine which is assisted by a larger 66.9-kWh electric motor to generate 261 HP and all-wheel drivetrain only. Sorento took 9.0 seconds to cover 0 to 60 MPH with non-turbo engine while 6.5 seconds with turbo engine and have a estimated top speed of 130 MPH which is pretty nice for a SUV like this.
