Liu Wen was born on January 27, 1988, in Yongzhou, Hunan, China. She is the first Chinese to be awarded the title of “China’s first bona fide supermodel” by the New York Times. Liu appeared in the New Silk Road World model contest in 2005 and this was her first ever modeling contest.
