MG Motor Crosses 6,500 Sales in August, Windsor EV Stays on Top

JSW MG Motor India has recorded its highest monthly sales ever, delivering 6,578 cars in August 2025. This is a big jump compared to August 2024, when sales stood at 4,323 units. The growth works out to a strong 52 percent year-on-year increase. The company’s strong performance was led by the Windsor EV, its most popular model, while the smaller Comet EV also posted impressive numbers. Alongside sales, MG added three new dealerships in August, taking its presence to 543 outlets across 270 cities in India.

Windsor EV Remains the Star Performer

The Windsor EV continues to be MG’s best-selling car. It comes with two battery pack options a 38kWh unit and a larger 52.9kWh pack. Both versions deliver 134bhp and 200Nm of torque, which makes the car smooth to drive in the city and powerful enough for longer runs. The Windsor EV Pro, which is the higher-spec version, offers a few extra features. These include fast DC charging, Level 2 ADAS safety tech, a powered tailgate, stylish new alloy wheels, and the ability to support reverse charging through V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) and V2L (vehicle-to-load) technology.

Prices for the Windsor EV start at ₹15.42 lakh on-road in Mumbai, while the Windsor EV Pro is priced at ₹18.31 lakh on-road in Mumbai. Given its features and pricing, it’s no surprise the Windsor continues to bring in the biggest share of MG’s sales.

Comet EV Posts Highest Growth

While the Windsor led the charts, the MG Comet EV saw the fastest growth in August, recording a 21 percent month-on-month increase. Compact, affordable, and practical, the Comet is aimed at city buyers looking for a small electric car that’s easy to drive and maintain. The Comet EV runs on a 41bhp motor with 110Nm of torque, powered by a 17.3kWh battery pack. In real-world driving, it offers a usable range of around 191km, making it a good secondary car for urban households. Pricing is another big draw. The Comet EV starts at ₹7.90 lakh on-road in Mumbai, while the stylish Blackstorm edition is priced at ₹10.52 lakh on-road in Mumbai. This makes it one of the most affordable EVs in the market today.

MG Expands Network to More Cities

MG is also strengthening its presence in India. By opening three new dealerships last month, the company now has 543 touchpoints in 270 cities. This wider network means easier access to sales and after-sales service for customers, which is crucial for new EV buyers who often seek strong support.

The company’s strategy of offering feature-packed EVs at competitive prices is also helping it stand out in a market where rivals like Tata Motors and Hyundai are pushing hard. MG’s mix of accessibility and innovation seems to be striking the right balance.

A Boost for India’s EV Market

The numbers show a clear trend Indian car buyers are increasingly choosing EVs. With the Windsor EV giving premium features at a mid-range price, and the Comet EV offering affordability with practicality, MG has created options for a wide range of customers. If this momentum continues, MG could play a leading role in India’s EV transition. The strong sales of August are not just good news for MG, but also a sign that India’s shift to electric mobility is gaining real pace. For buyers, it means more choice, better technology, and greater confidence in going electric.

The success of the Windsor and the rising popularity of the Comet show that MG is positioning itself strongly in India’s growing electric car market.
