Overview
Driving JDM cars on the Nurburgring track is a thing that no gearheads would like to skip. Nurburgring is a 150,000-capacity motorsports complex located in the town of Nurburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It has a track built in 1984. Nurburgring is famous for long and fast straights, banked corners, bumpy and jumpy parts, hairpin bends, and rises and falls around 100 feet as you go round it. It also has several named segments for which it is famous. The Nordschleife is a toll road open for anyone. It will cost you about $35 for a lap. You are welcome to bring your car on the Nurburgring lap. JDM cars are very famous among true gearheads. They all are very fun to drive and have high tuning capabilities. 10. Toyota Supra – 7:52:20
There have been many controversies around the globe about the new Toyota Supra. Many disliked it for its many similar things to the BMW Z4. However, you can’t deny the fact that it is very fun to drive and fast as well. Toyota made this new Supra made in partnership with BMW. It has the same engine as the BMW Z4 which is a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. It produces 335 hp of power and 369 lb-ft of torque. Toyota Supra did the Nurburgring lap in 7 minutes and 52 seconds.
9. Nissan Skyline GT-R R34– 7:52:00
GT-R R34 is an iconic car and doesn’t need any kind of introduction. It is also driven by the character Brian O’Conner in the Fast & Furious movie. This JDM legend has a twin-turbo inline-6 engine and it manages to produce 276 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. R34 also featured an intercooler on which its previous gen missed out. It makes the entire powertrain efficient. Legend is getting old and is outdated but still manages to do the Nurburgring lap in 7 minutes and 52 seconds which is faster than the new Golf 9 and Porsche 911 Carrera.
8. Honda Civic Type- R – 7:43:00
Civic Type-R has a hatchback design model. It is one of the most powerful hatchbacks out there. It has a great amount of power under its bonnet and is also practical. You can use it as a daily driver. It has a very sporty design and you won’t feel like you are driving an ordinary car. Civic Type-R comes with a 2.0-liter turbo engine that can produce 306 hp of power. It did Nurburgring lap in 7 minutes and 43 seconds. You won’t need any optional kit to extract that much performance, this performance is standard in every Civic Type-R.
7. Lexus LFA – 7:38:00
Lexus LFA is a limited edition car with only 500 models ever made. It costs $375,000 if you are lucky enough to get a hand at one of these. This supercar was not a big hit cause of its hefty price tag. However, you also can’t deny the fact that it is a cool-looking supercar and had great design and holds great power under its bonnet. It comes with a 4.8-liter V10 engine that produces 553 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque. Lexus LFA was able to do Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 38 seconds with an average speed of 101 mph.
6. Honda NSX (Mk 2) – 7:36:00
Honda NSX is a hybrid sports car. It comes with a twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 573 hp of power and 476 lb-ft of torque. Honda NSX did the Nurburgring lap in 7 minutes and 36 seconds achieving a top speed of 170 mph. The Nurburgring lap round of Honda NSX went beyond their expectation. NSX did even better than Honda Expected. Honda NSX has a top speed of 191 mph and can go from 0 to 60 mph in an impressive time of 2.9 seconds.
5. Nissan GT-R – 7:26:70
This Nissan GT-R is a successor of the R34 model. It is a great sports car but was not able to appeal to gearheads as its previous generation. Nissan GT-R comes with a twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 473 hp and 433 lb-ft of torque. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 sec and has a top speed of 196 mph. Nissan GT-R was able to do 7 minutes and 26 seconds while achieving 103 mph of average speed. Nissan used optional tires with GT-R to achieve its fastest time.
4. Nissan GT-R (R35 550 PS) – 7:19:10
Nissan GT-R R35 550 PS is a special edition made only for performance. It makes 542 hp of power and 466 lb-ft of torque with its 3.8-liter V6 engine. It got a huge amount of upgrades which makes this car insane around the track. R35 550PS has a top speed of 201 mph. It did Nurburgring lap in 7 minutes and 19 seconds which makes it one of the fastest cars Nissan has ever taken to a Nurburgring lap.
3. Lexus LFA Nurburgring Package – 7:14:64
Lexus did something insane for the Nurburgring track. They launched a special Nurburgring-specific model of Lexus LFA and only 50 of these were made. Its special package includes 4.8-liter V10 engine. This engine was co-developed with Yamaha who also helped to tune the exhaust system. Its engine produces 562 hp of power and 354 lb-ft of torque. They also equipped it with a modified front hood and higher rear wing. It did Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 14 seconds.
2. Nissan GT-R Nismo – 7:08:68
GT-R Nismo is the high-performance version of the Nissan GT-R, similar to the M division of BMW and the AMG division of Mercedes. Nissan GT-R Nismo is priced at around $220,000. It has a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. It produces 600 hp of power and 481 b-ft of torque which give this car enough power to go from 0 to 60 mph in 2.7 sec and has a top speed of 195 mph. GT-R Nismo did Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 8 seconds achieving an average speed of 107 mph.
1. Modified Subaru WRX STI – 6:57:50
Subaru WRX STI is the fastest Japanese car to ever go on the Nurburgring. However, it was not the standard production model. It did the record in 6 minutes and 57 seconds achieving an average speed of 110 miles per hour. The modified Subaru includes aerodynamic and performance upgrades. It allowed the car to reach the top speed of 177 miles per hour in the Nurburgring.
