Overview
The Japanese automobile industry is the birthplace to many legendary sports cars like the Honda S2000, the Nissan GT-R, the Lexus LFA, the Acura NSX and list goes on. These cars are insanely fast which are designed to ooze speed even when standing still. As a general rule, the vehicles that place a high priority on dynamic performance are frequently designed to look the part. However, some cars have strong engines hidden inside of unassuming bodies for a variety of reasons. Until you press all the way into the gas, they appear slow.
Ranging from full size sedans to sports wagons and minivans, there are many fantabulous Japanese sleeper cars too. They blend in well with the grocery shoppers thanks to their bland and unassuming exterior styling. However, they can overtake more obvious performance cars on the open roads, unlike the typical family vehicle. Let’s take a look around 10 fast JDM cars which you shouldn’t judge by their looks.
10. 2010 Nissan Altima 3.5 SR Sedan(147mph)
Though it is a perfect family sedan, the Altima 3.5 SR is a fun car to drive. It offers a well-equipped interior with comfortable leather seats and a clear rear view camera, and it carries its 3357 pounds weight brilliantly. Now coming to the main part, it has a 3.5L V6 engine under the hood and pairs well with the variable transmission. The engine produces 270hp and 258lb-ft of torque to the front wheels resulting in neck-snapping acceleration. The Mazdaspeed6 was designed for the adrenaline junkies who like their adrenaline with a dash of comfort. An output of 274hp and 280lb-ft of torque is sent to Mazda’s Active Torque Split AWD system. The car does 0-60mph in just 5.4 seconds and finishes the quarter mile in 14 seconds at 99mph.
