2022 Acura MDX All Prices, Top Speed, 0-60 mph, Performance And Features

Acura MDX is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV in production since 2000. The first model of this vehicle came with a 3.5 L J35A3 SOHC 24 valve V6 engine along with a 5-speed automatic transmission. The third row consisted of only two seats allowing 7 passengers to fit in the vehicle and gets an automatic four-wheel drive system. This vehicle brought the hybrid power train to its lineup in 2017. It comes with a 3.0 liter V6, 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, a 1.3 kWh lithium-ion battery, and drives the front wheels with a single electric motor setup. It also had an optional dual motor set up driving all wheels. Acura MDX finally came with its fourth generation prototype in 2020 for the 2022 model year. And this 2022 Acura MDX went on sale on February 2, 2021.

What’s New?

The 2022 Acura MDX equips the same 3.5 liter V6 engine that can be found in the previous 2020 model. But gets a 10-speed automatic transmission instead of the 9-speed transmission. It also offers a hybrid trim with a turbocharged 3.0 liter V6 engine. The newly designed vehicle gets all the technical features from the brand’s RDX and TLX models. The new performance-based trim Type S is added with a standard all-wheel drive.

Engine Specifications & Performance

As stated earlier the vehicle gets a 3.5 liter V6 engine making a power output of 290 hp. It has a standard front-wheel drive and a 10-speed automatic transmission while all-wheel drive is an option. The performance-based Type S trim is equipped with a turbocharged and intercooled DOHC 24-valve V6 engine making 355 hp at 5500 rpm and a torque of 354 lb-ft at 1400 rpm. The vehicle takes 5.5 sec to accelerate from 0-60mph and can reach a top speed of 111 mph. It can cover a 1/4 mile distance in 14.1 sec at a speed of 100 mph. It is good to get extra power but not quite enough for that name as the base variant can accelerate to 60mph in 6.4 seconds making not much difference.

Fuel Economy & Mileage

The base trim gets an EPA rating of 19 mpg in the city, 25 mpg on the highway, and a combined rating of 21 mpg. While the four-wheel drive gets 21 mpg on the highway which is very low for a vehicle having that power and weight with a 10-speed automatic transmission. It gives a driving range of 420 miles on a 75 mph highway ride. The A-Spec trim with all wheel drive has even less rating of 22 mpg.
