Overview
The 2022 Toyota Highlander is a comfortable family SUV at a very attractive pricing. It has plenty of driver assistance features as a standard and hybrid powertrain as an optional. But its third row is only comfortable for children and its dashboard seems dated. Highlander’s driving manner is not so engaging to drive. The powertrain offered are V6 engine and a hybrid setup with front-wheel or all-wheel drivetrain. It directly rivals against Kia Telluride, Hyundai Palisade and Mazda CX-9. Highlander’s drives smooth but its driving behavior doesn’t match with the rivals.
What’s New For 2022 ?
The 2022 Highlander doesn’t make any changes to their lineup expect new Hybrid Bronze Edition variant will be added to the lineup. It has bronze color detailing inside the cabin with geometric patterned upholstery. The new height adjustable power seat feature from front passenger will be added for XLE variant onwards.

The features offered are 8.0-inch and optional 12.3-inch infotainment system with Android Auto, apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, 11-speaker JBL audio system, power sunroof, wireless charging pad and heated front seats. The hybrid powertrain and all-wheel drivetrain will cost extra $1400 and $1600 respectively.
Highlander scored 5-start safety rating in NHTSA. The standard safety features include automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert and lane departure warning with lane keep assist.

Engine, Top Speed, 0-60 mph & Performance
The gasoline powered Highlander is come with 3.5-litre V6 engine producing 295 HP mated to 8-speed automatic transmission with either front-wheel or optional all-wheel drivetrain. The all-wheel drive variant with this powertrain will able to hits 0 to 60 MPH in 6.7 seconds and have a top speed of 118 mph. Moving forward to the another powertrain option which is 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine assisted by two electric motors combined to make 243 HP mated to continuously variable transmission (CVT) with either front-wheel or all-wheel drivetrain. With this powertrain Highlander crosses 0 to 60 MPH in 7.3 seconds. Highlander rides smoothly and stable but its handling is not so exciting.
