BMW cars are the sign of performance and luxury. Though, they are not known for hitting top speed over 200 mph, the Alpina B8 Gran Coupe is different. It packs plenty of power and other upgrades that makes it different. A new AutoTop NL video showcases that by running the sedan on the German Autobahn.
Alpina added more than badges and branding. The BMW design team also provided Eibach springs, stiffer suspension mounts, reinforced front sway bars, and stiffer lower wishbone mounts. Sticking to the track are Alpina’s 20-spoke 21-inch wheels that prevents skidding. Alpina is blessed with the four-piston Brembo brakes that provides stopping power.
Performance
The sedan is powered by BMW’s 4.4L twin-turbocharged V8 that provides 612 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. The official top speed of 2022 B8 is recorded as 201 mph with a 60 mph time of 3.3 sec. The sedan got no problem in hitting the triple digit speeds, as 124 mph (200 kph) mark hitting with a blink. The Alpina flies past traffic quickly but has to slow down on some occasions. The video shows how flexible the car is at high speeds.
The Alpina B8 differentiates it from 8 Series Gran Coupe in terms of new front and rear fascias that provides a sporty look to the sedan. At front, the car features Alpina’s branding along with the large air intakes. The redesigned rear-end features a lip spoiler and Alpina’s oval exhaust tips. Inside, the tuner has a wood trim, the branded door sills, badging, and Alcantara.
The 2023 Alpina B8 Gran Coupe is now officially available in the U.S. market. Its starting price is fixed as $144,900. That’s a really good deal in that amount. The destination charge is $995. You won’t be able to experience this performance on the public US roads, so keep searching for the tracks.
