Audi S3 is the performance version of the Audi A3, a small family car. Initially, cam in 1999 this vehicle had a three-door hatchback body and was equipped with an inline-four cylinder 1.8 L turbocharged petrol engine. The early models produced a power output of 207 hp till 2001 and the later ones produced 222 hp with variable valve timing. And this vehicle was sold in only a few countries. The facelift of this vehicle came in 2002 with one-piece headlights, rear lights clusters, and a few changes to the interior. This vehicle had a standard 6-speed Manual transmission and all-wheel drive. The second generation came in 2006. The S3 gives a good driving experience but is a little cramped inside just like the Audi A3 and also ranks well behind the A3.
What’s New?
The powertrain remains the same as the 2022 Audi S3. But the vehicle comes with minor changes in design and technical features. The Convenience package gives adaptive cruise control and a wireless smartphone charging pad. S3 has a similar interior to the A3 but with sports front seats and a flat-bottom steering wheel. The vehicle as usual gets the standard features like a panoramic sunroof, and three-zone automatic climate control. The cabin space is increased a little by reducing the size of the trunk a little.
Engine Specifications & Performance
The three trims of the Audi S3 equip the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a power output of 306 hp and a torque of 295 lb-ft. The engine syncs with a seven-speed automatic transmission, and Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system. The acceleration is very aggressive and makes the vehicle agile. A little turbo lag can be observed in the Comfort driving mode but can be neglected. This vehicle can accelerate from 0-60mph in just 4.5 sec, to 100mph in 11.0 sec and cover a 1/4 mile distance in 12.9 seconds at a speed of 108 mph.
