2023 Audi S5 Sportback is nothing but a 349-hp S5 coupe stretched from both ends to accommodate more passenger space, four doors, and a hatchback liftgate. Both the S5 use the same turbocharged V6 mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission rushing through Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive system. The neat S5 Sportback is excellent on curvy roads and, its punchy powertrain can hustle, but the delivery feels somewhat muzzled. Competitors such as the BMW M340i and the Mercedes-AMG C43 are sharper and more fun to drive. The S5’s large hatchback liftgate makes cargo loading easy but compared to the physically identical S4 sedan, the Sportback’s rear legroom is less. What’s New In 2023 Audi S5 Sportback?
The Sportback has minor updates to differentiate it from last year’s model. The new Black Optic Plus appearance package includes more black elements such as a black spoiler, black rocker sills, exhaust tips, rear spoiler, and darkened Audi badges. Adaptive cruise control is added to the optional Convenience package. A Sport interior package is new for 2023, adding red stitching and RS carbon inlays to the S5 Sportback’s black interior. Finally, the Quantum Gray paint option has been replaced by Chronos Gray. The Premium Plus trim is a perfect balance of options and price, including standard equipment. This includes Audi’s Virtual Cockpit display, blind-spot monitoring, passive keyless entry, a heated steering wheel, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, and more.
Engine Specifications & Performance
All the S5 Sportback trims house the same 349-hp turbocharged V6, mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive. Huge thanks to the launch-control system and all-wheel-drive traction, the car went from 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds. The titillating four-door S5 is equipped with optional 19-inch performance tires and the S Sport package adds a torque-vectoring rear differential and adaptive dampers. We’d recommend the mid-level Premium Plus trim which offers a great balance of extras for the price.
