BMW iX Features & Performance

2023 BMW iX SUV previews BMW’s electrified future, offering similar cabin space and viability as the Beemer’s popular X5, but with cutting-edge features. The AWD is powered by two electric motors and more than enough power; 516 hp in the xDrive50 and an insane 610 hp in the M60. The large battery pack provides enough salts for an estimated driving range of over 300 miles/charge. The interior is spacious and is covered with fine materials and hosts a futuristic, and fancy design. The large digital dashboard shows the future of BMW’s iDrive infotainment system, which is controlled by a see-through rotary knob. The iX takes a tough stand to compete with popular all-electric rivals like the Audi e-Tron and the Tesla Model X.

What’s New In BMW iX?

BMW added the high-performance M60 model for the 2023 lineup, pumping out 610-hp with an all-electric powertrain with an estimated 280-mile driving range. The body floats on air suspension which can adapt to sporty driving. This Beemer SUV is as the same size as the company’s X5 and X6 crossovers, with similar passenger and cargo space. The iX’s interior design is both minimal and modern hosting a ton of high-tech elements which includes a large curved touchscreen panel and hexagonal-shaped steering. The brand also offers a large panoramic sunroof with electrochromic shading as an option. The front seats are also power heated and sport integrated speakers for the stereo system. A choice of both faux leather and genuine leather upholsteries are available, along with an optional textile seat fabric that uses microfiber cloth.

BMW iX Battery, Motor, Performance & Range

Currently, there are only two trims of the iX available, one being the xDrive50, powered by a pair of electric motors pumping out 516 hp; with AWD as standard. Whereas, the high-performance variant, the M60, produces a whopping 610 hp with enough power to rocket the SUV to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds. The adjustable air suspension and rear-wheel-steering system are optional on the xDrive 50, while standard on the M60. The iX features a large 105.2-kWh battery pack with an EPA rating of 324 miles of range/charge. The DC fast charging is standard where the iX can re-juice itself from 10% to 80% in just 35 min when plugged into a 200-kW connection.

The brand has partnered with EVgo which will provide a network of public charging stations for iX owners, where the SUV would also be able to charge on other popular networks, as well as a Level 2 home charging station.

It’s hard to admit that one would not be attracted to the more powerful and more expensive M60 model, but the premium over the latter is significant and it is not worth it. Currently, we would recommend the xDrive50, because it comes standard with nearly every luxury and convenience feature that a car with its price tag should.
