2023 Genesis GV60 crossover is whimsical and satisfying, this tackles the luxury EV segment and is made by the ambitious Genesis luxury brand. The GV60 is inspired by styling elements found in other Genesis models. But it lacks the company’s signature large trapezoidal grille stretching between the dual-element headlamps, substituting a slimmer grille across the front bumper.
The GV60’s interior looks knowingly premium, with a large monolithic display screen serving as a gauge cluster and infotainment system. Also, the novel crystal sphere shifter rotates to reveal itself when the SUV is powered on. Buyers can choose from the 314-hp Advanced or 429-hp Performance trims; with an estimated driving range of 248 miles per charge. Luxury SUV competitors such as the Audi Q4 e-Tron, the Volvo XC40 Recharge, and the C40 Recharge offer similar names and driving ranges. But the GV60’s detail-oriented design makes it an attractive alternative.
What’s New In 2023 Genesis GV60?
The GV60 is a new model for Genesis and the brand’s third SUV. It’s also the brand’s first foray into the electric vehicle marketplace and it shares its underpinnings with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6. As it is the smallest SUV in the Genesis lineup, the GV60 isn’t as large as the GV70 and GV80 models. But, it offers a unique interior design that’s more futuristic in its appearance. The Korean brand has taken some chances and integrated some cool motifs and features, including a gear selector that flips upside down when in the park and has the appearance of a crystal ball.
Genesis GV60 Battery & Performance
There would be three different powertrains will be offered, but the all-wheel-drive arrangements with dual motors will be available at the GV60’s launch. The Advanced trims make a combined 314 hp, while the Performance pumps out 429 hp. This number can be temporarily boosted to 483-hp when the Boost driving mode is enabled. With that driving mode, the launching of GV60 Performance to 60 mph is just 3.7 seconds.
The ride manners are refined and handling is redolent of the Porsche Macan. When encountered on a stretch of winding pavement, the GV60 offers enough engagement to entertain the driver. All the versions will house the same 77.4-kWh battery pack. But as per the EPA, the AWD GV60 Advanced offers up to 248 miles of driving range. When hooked up to a DC fast charging station, Genesis claims that the GV60’s battery can be charged from 10-80% in just 18 minutes.

All GV60 models are equipped with a large 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen sharing a panel with an identically-sized 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, but neither of them works wirelessly. The Genesis infotainment system works well enough and can be controlled via a click wheel on the center console. A Bang & Olufsen stereo system is standard, which is a nice feature that most rivals would charge extra for.

While the Performance trim is quite tempting; as it unlocks a maximum of 483-hp from its two electric motors. But we would recommend to better buy the Advanced trim. While the Advanced only makes 314 hp, it also comes with a slightly longer 248-mile driving range and still comes uniquely equipped with 20-inch wheels, a Bang & Olufsen stereo system, heated and ventilated front seats, and a host of driver-assistance features, among many others.
