2023 Hyundai Accent is a car that is indeed cheap but that doesn’t mean it needs to look cheap. The Hyundai Accent offers well-mannered styling despite its bargain-basement price tag. Every model comes with a 120-hp four-pot engine paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). This doesn’t seem exciting, but it gets the job done and does so while asking for fuel. The interior, is quite unexciting but functional indeed, as it offers modern conveniences and even some luxuries. The completely loaded Limited model costs less than $21,000 and offers heated seats, touchscreen infotainment, and push-button start. Regardless, of which trim is chosen, the Accent’s appearance is mature and contemporary, saving you from the embarrassment of being outed as a penny pincher.

What’s New?
For the 2023 Model year, both the base SE and midrange SEL variants of the Accent receive a new anti-theft immobilizer as standard. Unfortunately, the six-speed manual transmission has been removed from the Accent’s lineup; The South Korean Carmaker also announced that this will be the final model year for its smallest sedan.
Engine & Performance
The Hyundai Accent’s 1.6-liter four-pot engine makes 120 hp and powers the front wheels via a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The four-pot was new for 2020, but expect performance similar to the 2018 and 2019 models. That delivered 130 hp. Here, the car makes a clear statement that rides comfort takes priority over deft handling. However, the Accent still feels lively, with its small body easily maneuvering into corners, and it’s even more thrilling when pushed. Rough roads are smoothed out plentily by the suspension, but harsh impacts generate tremor-like vibrations through the cabin. The Accent’s matured interior is well built but lacks the pert style of the Kia Rio. Featuring a frill-free interior design, the Accent is uncomplicated and straightforward. Usually, every model has a black interior, which, is well built, and provided a somber, businesslike appearance.

Usually, small cars are expected to deliver good fuel-economy ratings, and Accent does just that. The new four-cylinder engine has improved fuel economy across the lineup. Manual-transmission models are rated at 33 mpg combined and automatic models claim a 36 mpg combined rating. It delivers 28 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway.

A 5.0-inch touchscreen radio is standard across the lineup and provides USB and auxiliary ports for connecting devices. However, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes on SEL and Limited trims only is higher tech. The larger display also boasts Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity as well as a second USB port located on the back of the center console.

The base-level SE trim offers nothing but many stripped-down choices. Also, it lacks many of the features which car buyers might call essential. So we’d recommend going for the mid-range SEL which adds a host of convenience items such as fog lamps, automatic headlamps, aluminum wheels, heated exterior mirrors, a larger 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, and more.
