2023 Toyota RAV4 Engine, Mileage, Top-Speed, 0-60 MPH & Features

Toyota RAV4 Specifications & Features

The 2023 Toyota RAV4 is consistently a best-seller for Toyota for good reasons. It’s an SUV that appeals to your common sense and is efficient and practical. With a cargo-friendly interior, a competitive base price, and reasonable handling, the 2023 RAV4 carries on the legacy. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder and an eight-speed automatic transmission work together to power the front or all four wheels. Although acceleration is a little sluggish, fuel efficiency is good. Even the most capable TRD Off-Road model won’t be able to reach the same remote locations as those more difficult off-road vehicles, despite the RAV4’s rough exterior making it look at home among 4Runners and Tacomas. The RAV4 performs best when used for suburban duties like regular commuting and excursions to the hardware store.

What’s New?

Toyota replaced the RAV4’s outdated infotainment system with a more advanced one this year that features larger screens. On LE, XLE, XLE Premium, and Adventure trims, an 8.0-inch display replaces the basic 7.0-inch device from the previous year; Limited and TRD Off-Road versions receive a larger 10.5-inch display. The newest software interface from Toyota is both nicer and easier to use than the previous version, and it supports wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as over-the-air updates. The gauge cluster now comes with a 7.0-inch display as standard equipment, with a 12.3-inch display available as an option on the Limited, XLE Premium, and TRD Off-Road variants.

A 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine with 203 horsepower and an eight-speed automated transmission power the 2023 RAV4.Although FWD is still the default, Toyota now offers a selection of AWD systems, depending on trim. The Adventure model had an AWD system that could separate the rear axle to increase fuel efficiency as needed. With a timing of 8.0 seconds for the 2019 model and 8.3 seconds for the 2018 model, the RAV4 tested faster than its predecessor. The vehicle’s obedient four-cylinder can be noisy, especially when attempting to pass on the highway, and the gearbox appeared to stutter when a downshift was required. The Mazda CX-5 is our segment favorite, but the RAV4 lacks the same confidence while driving down the highway or along a winding part of the road. The RAV4 feels steady and robust in both of these situations.

The Limited and the TRD Off-Road both have a 10.5-inch touchscreen, compared to other grades’ 8.0-inch screens. The infotainment system has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, as well as a 4G LTE mobile hotspot. Optional extras include a wireless charging station for a smartphone, GPS, and a JBL premium music system. The gauge cluster on most models has a separate 7.0-inch display, but the Limited comes standard with a 12.3-inch completely digital gauge display that is optional on the XLE Premium and TRD Off-Road.

Although it’s difficult for us to pass on the awesome new TRD Off-Road, we’d exercise restraint and go with the XLE Premium in the middle. It comes with many features as standard that the LE and XLE do not, including 19-inch wheels, a power liftgate, dual-zone automatic climate control, faux-leather upholstery, and a steering wheel and shift knob covered in leather. There isn’t much of a reason to choose a more expensive model unless, of course, you want ventilated seats because Toyota includes its suite of driver-assistance functions as standard across the lineup.

Conclusion

The RAV4’s utility and affordability are difficult to contest, even though it’s a touch tedious to drive and is beginning to seem dated in comparison to the more contemporary competition. Entry-level models are too basic and noisy, while some competitors provide better driving experiences. Driver assistance systems are standard, and the driver has a laid-back driving style.
