2024 Acura ZDX vs Genesis GV60: What To Choose?
Acura is venturing into the electric realm with the revived ZDX. A partnership between Honda and GM utilizing GM’s Ultium battery. Departing from the original ZDX’s fastback style, the new SUV features a traditional two-box shape. A floating roof, and a distinctive faux grille. The base A-Spec model boasts a 340-hp electric motor with an optional second motor for AWD. Offering a range of 325 miles or 315 miles, respectively. The high-performance Type S variant delivers 500 hp, AWD, adaptive dampers, and larger brakes but sacrifices range. Meanwhile, Genesis enters the luxury EV scene with the GV60, featuring unique design elements. Ditching the traditional trapezoidal grille for a sleek surface. The interior is characterized by dual 12.3-inch screens and premium materials. Complemented by powertrains delivering up to 483 hp and a 294-mile range, making it an appealing alternative in the luxury EV market.

Now, let’s talk about the ZDX lineup. We’ll begin with the A-Spec model, equipped with a powerful 340-hp RWD motor. If you prefer, this model offers an option for a second motor. While this doesn’t increase the overall horsepower, it does provide the added capability of AWD. However, what truly catches our attention is the thrilling Type S iteration. This version comes standard with dual motors and AWD. The electric motors in the Type S variant have been precisely tuned to deliver an impressive combined output of 500 hp.
Price & Mileage
We highly recommend considering the range-topping Type S model. Drawing insights from the Cadillac Lyriq, which shares a platform with the ZDX, we anticipate the Type S variant to provide the dynamic acceleration that electric vehicle enthusiasts often desire. Priced at $60,000 for the ZDX, it positions itself attractively. While we await the EPA’s official MPGe estimates for the ZDX, we expect them to closely align with the Lyriq’s impressive numbers. The Lyriq achieves remarkable ratings of up to 95 MPGe in city conditions and 82 MPGe during highway cruising. This similarity suggests that the ZDX will likely deliver competitive efficiency.
Acceleration & Features
GM’s Ultium battery technology takes centre stage in the ZDX, adopting the same 102.0-kWh battery pack as the Lyriq, resulting in an astounding driving range of up to 325 miles for the A-Spec variant. Meanwhile, the Type S model maintains a respectable range of 288 miles per charge. Equipped with DC fast charging as standard, the ZDX boasts rapid charging capabilities of up to 190 kW, ensuring quick power top-ups. The heart of the ZDX’s dashboard showcases an impressive 11.3-inch infotainment display that radiates a strong sense of pride. Complementing this feature, snugly positioned within the binnacle just ahead of the steering wheel, is a second 11.0-inch gauge-cluster display. Notably, the seamless integration of standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto further enhances the ZDX’s tech-savvy appeal.

Motor & Performance
While the Standard trim gets just one 225-hp electric motor driving the RWD, the Advanced and Performance trims come with two motors and AWD as standard. The Advanced model makes a combined 314 hp while the Performance trim makes 429hp. That number can be temporarily increased to 483 hp by engaging the Performance model’s Boost driving mode. The GV60’s road manners are quite refined, the Performance model’s adaptive suspension and electronic rear locking differential give it handling qualities reminiscent of the Porsche Macan. All versions come with the same 77.4-kWh battery pack, but according to the EPA, the AWD GV60 Advanced offers up to 248 miles of driving range while the Performance model carries an estimate of 235. Hooked up to a DC fast-charging station, the GV60’s battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent capacity in just 18 minutes, according to Genesis.
Price & Mileage
The price of the Genesis GV60 starts at $53,350 for the Standard and goes up to $70,900 for the Performance. We feel the Advanced is the better value. Previously, the most efficient GV60 model was the all-wheel-drive Advanced trim, which is EPA-rated for up to 103 MPGe city and 86 MPGe highway. The soon-to-arrive 19-inch wheel option improves on those numbers, earning EPA ratings of 110 MPGe city and 90 MPGe highway. The Performance trim is rated for 97 MPGe city and 82 MPGe highway.
Acceleration & Features
With the Boost Driving mode activated, launched the GV60 Performance to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds. The GV60 comes standard with a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen that shares a panel with an identically sized 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, but remarkably, only with a wired connection. There is, however, a wireless charging pad. A click wheel on the center console doubles as a controller for the touchscreen. A premium Bang & Olufsen stereo system is standard; a nice feature that most rivals would charge extra for.
