The 2024 Audi RS6 Avant might not have needed more power than its 591 horsepower, but it evidently did. Audi made the decision to turn the dial up for 2024 by introducing a new Performance variant that boasts an absurd 621 horsepower. Also, the new version is lighter, so acceleration should be brutal enough. However, the RS6 Avant’s quest for more power makes no difference to its impressive practicality, which includes room for five passengers in an interior adorned with luxurious materials and an abundance of cutting-edge technology. Moreover, there is a lot of room for storage behind the hydraulic rear liftgate. The only genuine competitor for the RS6 Avant is the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo, which makes it a niche choice lost in a sea of performance-oriented SUVs like the BMW X5 M.

What’s New?
For 2024, the RS6 Avant receives a new Performance model that increases the horsepower and torque of the V-8 while also making minor changes to the chassis. The Performance variant gains a few pounds, a set of brand-new 285-width Continental Sport Contact 7 tyres, and a few fresh hues.
Engine & Performance
A twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine with a displacement of 591-hp and 590 lb-ft is what Audi equips the RS6 Avant with. The engine is coupled with a 48-volt hybrid technology seen on other Audi models, including the Q8 crossover and the A8 luxury sedan. An eight-speed automatic transmission powers the Quattro all-wheel drive that comes standard on the RS6 Avant. The new Performance trim for 2024 increases power to 621-hp and, according to Audi, speeds up the wagon’s acceleration times by a few tenths. A new centre differential and lightweight wheels are also added to the Performance. Depending on the drive mode selected, the car could give a smooth or exhilarating ride. Because to its torque-vectoring rear differential and four-wheel steering, the long-roof Audi also felt incredibly nimble. Ours used the stock brakes and came to a clean stop from 70 mph in 160 feet.

The infotainment system is controlled by a 10.1-inch touchscreen. It offers common features including Wi-Fi hotspot, built-in navigation, a Bang & Olufsen sound, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. An 8.6-inch touchscreen that is located below the main display has settings for the climate control and other auto functions. Large, simple-to-use icons are present on both panels, although the lower one in particular can be distracting to the driver. The previous scroll knob that came with Audi’s infotainment systems is something most miss.

Although the Performance model has more horsepower, the basic RS6 Avant is still fantastic and has lots of upscale choices. You’ll need to fork over more money if you want a different paint color unless you want a gray automobile. Ours would be painted in the lovely Navarra Blue Metallic. Additionally, we’d opt for the Black Optic package, which gives the wagon a sleeker, more menacing appearance with black exterior accents and summer performance tires. Carbon-ceramic brakes are an additional expense for those who want their Avant to hit 190 mph, but we’d rather use that cash on the Executive package and the massaging seats in front. Naturally, our wagon requires the sport exhaust option so we may enjoy the entrancing engine noises.
